I currently own an express type yacht and look to acquire a more classic yacht (Hatteras); the problem is that there aren't too many located in our vicinity (Lake Ontario) so I'm trying to get as much information as possible before I actually travel to look at a potential deal. I initially was interested in the 53', but a friend of mine suggested I look at a wide body (e.g. 56) as it wouldn't roll as much. Reading Pascoe's excellent book on Mid Size Power Boats, he talks about Bloat boats and clumsy design (having high beam to length ratio and high center of gravity). My question would be; would that not suggest that the 56 would roll and pund more than the 53 and probably be less fuel efficient. In spite of the above observation, I'm getting kind of interested in the 54 wide-beam, any comments (good and bad) on this Motoryacht???
