    Hi all,

As a tentative purchase, I am considering the above boats.

Appreciating your views on built quality as I am slightly concerned that OA's being built in Taiwan may not match the price tag.

Another concern is the fact that they do not have a European presence whereas GB has.

Any other comment on these boats are welcome and appreciated.

As for looks, am I the only one who believe that the new OA 72 looks great?

    Thanks

    Nelson

Having a "local" service presence can make a big difference. But only if the stock stuff and back it up with real service.

I'm partial to GBs myself. And the two boats seem to differ a bit in lay out. With the Aleutian you get a lot of exterior aft deck area along with 1000 more gallons of fuel. With the Alexander you get more interior area. Of course only you would know which is best suited for the way you would use a boat.

I like the flybridge layout better on the Aleutian. That plus the Porchagese bridge.

    Have you considered Outer Reef?

    Thank you for your replies,

Starting from the end, Marlows and Outer Reefs have much lesser cruising speed than GB. I guess OA 72 still has a cruising speed around 14kts.

The enlarge open area of GB is a plus and yes Capt. Bill11, you have a point there. It is just that the design looks "stretched" a bit.

Having run a number of different Marlows I would say they can cruise at the same speed as the GBs.

In fact as I recall a 72' Marlow with C32s will cruise in the mid 20s.

The newer Marlow's I believe can cruise faster then any in their class.
The newer Marlow 97'E will cruise from Sarasota to Cancun and back on one tank of fuel at 25kt.
The "Marlow Challenge" would have been entertaining if commenced.
