How do I remove the starboard Fuel tank on 1988 Oceanyacht
What size Ocean Yacht????
On a 48, it has to be cut in half. Just finishing up the removal and replacement of both tanks on a 1986, 48 super sport.
That sounds good , how do you install the new one ?
The port tank is fabbed and installed as one tank. The starboard tank is two tanks with added volume to match the original tank. I have photos for reference if you need them. The issue on the starboard side is the main elect panel and cabinet. It was far easier and less expensive to split the tanks.
48 ft sport fish
Can u send me the photos thanks
Here are a couple of over view photos, the entire floor and sub structure has been removed to facilitate the tank removal and installation.
When you remove the starboard tank where did you cut it to get it out
Basically it was cut into quarters, with the top removed the interior was cleaned to minimize a mess when the lower portion was cut in half. As you can see the new tanks were sized so they could be installed and placed after they were fabricated.
How did you remove the floor boards over the tank
Take out the couch and take up the carpet. You will see.
ou need a good yard to do this. Find one.
Jersey Cape Marine in Lower Bank ,N.J. has done several of these . Nice people to deal with .
I have a 1988 48 ocean that needs a new tank as well. How much does something like that cost?
Just thinking, if one has failed at minimum have the other the tank inspected.
Generally on Oceans (as they're saddle tanks under the engine room vents) when one tank fails, the other is only a year behind it. Change them both at the same time.
Where is the leak ? Top or bottom of the tank?
on the bottom of the starboard side.
Do you have the specs for the two tanks on the starboard side? I need to replace the tank on my 48 ocean as well.
Top , I might offer some suggestions ...
Bottom , you have to replace it , IMO. Sorry.
