Nordhavn sells first N120', "Aurora"​

The dawn of a new generation at PAE has arrived with the sale of the first Nordhavn 120. With a scheduled delivery date of April 2012, the stage has been set for the emergence of a new breed of luxury expedition yacht.

Chief of Design Jeff Leishman and his talented engineering staff have produced a design that encompasses the highest degrees of experience, talent and imagination possible. Consistently recognized for its superior concepts, the team has achieved a design coup with the 120. “Our 35 years of experience in designing and building over 800 ocean going yachts has prepared us for this exciting moment,” said PAE’s president, Dan Streech. Never before has a yacht so perfectly fused opulence with quality, comfort, safety and seakeeping ability. And it will all begin with Aurora.

Nordhavn 120, hull one, will epitomize all that one demands from a personal luxury liner, with plenty of spaces to entertain in as well as retreat to when the need for a private sanctuary calls. A team led by interior design specialist Dee Robinson will ensure the vessel’s accommodations are customized to the buyer’s exact degree of taste and personalization. Aurora’s interior will be simple and elegant yet contemporary in its styling. African cherry has been selected as the primary hardwood to be used throughout.

When considering a private luxury ship, this three-time Nordhavn owner passed over well known megayacht builders and chose to go with the company he knew could produce a design where luxe living was matched by a sound, seaworthy and seamlessly finished hull. As is the case with the rest of the Nordhavn product line, this 840,000-lb. boat is built to handle seas. Having previously owned 62-, 76- and 86-foot Nordhavns, the buyer is confident the brand’s heritage will be reflected in its newest design. Indeed, 120 #1 represents Nordhavn’s commitment to the future while continuing to stay true to its roots.

Hull one is being built at PAE’s new partner factory in Xiamen, China, expressly designed to accommodate the N120 production line. Construction is expected to start in January. “This will be the owner’s fourth Nordhavn, so there is comfort and experience on both sides which will help elevate the N120 project to a spectacular mega-yacht level,” said Dan Streech. A world-class yacht, the N120 is ABS certified and can meet the most prestigious classifications.
