Feadship 69.5M Hull YN696 Moves Into Finishing Shed

Dutch superyacht builder Feadship has a number of projects under construction at the moment and the casco to one of them recently arrived at their finishing facilities in Aalsmeer. It is said to be a near 70-meter hull which would make her identify as hull YN696. This hull is supposed to be handed over in 2018. At this stage, not alot is known about the particular build. So far, we know that the designer is De Voogt Naval Architects and is said to finish with an interior by Redman Whiteley Dixon (RWD).

The displacement superyacht was built with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure. She was towed from her hull-builders recently and is now inside the central-most finishing shed at the De Vries yard in Aalsmeer. Feadship also has a 95-meter superyacht codenamed Project 'Touchdown' (YN695) finishing up in the adjacent largest of the three sheds. That build is billed for launch or finishing later this year. As for the new YN696, the design is certainly different for a standard 70-meter yacht that we have grown accustomed to. It seems that the designs of companies like Moonen and Mulder of recent are starting to make their way in to larger superyachts. If you follow closely this will be apparent. The 228-foot superyacht will likely be finished with four decks for guests. It appears that the tender garage is up front in the bow as large shell doors can be seen in these photos by Eddie Mantel.
