sorry mate i could be wrong about that ,it does not look like the shergar and i must admit i have never heard of the kalamoun even though i walked past it on and off for 14 months . the dockyard grapevine told us they both belonged to the aga khan is that right.

Still visible on satelite images, on an inner dock berth.
Will she stay or will she go!?
Is she to be the Aga Khan's project 305 support vessel?

    Tantetruus, goto Google maps
http://maps.google.co.uk/, Then type in Devonport, you will now have a street map. With a green Arrow.
Change view from 'Map to Satelite' and immediatley West / Left you can see the big white hull of Destriero.
You can zoom in to quite hi res, which shows a smaller yacht berthed alongside.
I cannot locate the time stamp for these images, but expect them to be no more than 6 weeks old!

Don't rely too much on the age of the photos the one that covers my house is 3 years old. Different part of the world but same system.

well, the only thing im sure off is that the aga khans ship should be about 60 mtr. so thats what im looking for:)
The only (visible) one around that size is Destriero.

the satellite picture on google earth is about 2 years old.the two darkhulls to the right of shergar are two laid up ready for disposal nuclear hunter killer subs .i am quite surprised how good the resolution is considering it is a royal naval dockyard

Shergar was subject to a minor refit in Plymouth some 5 or 6 years ago but has never been laid up there. The vessel in question is indeed and always has been Kalamoun.

Regarding Destriero I have sad news, her Master, Captain Oduardo Mancini, sadly passed away yesterday. He was a great friend of mine and I have fond memories of the many stories he told me of his Atlantic crossing and the challenges he faced with his crew. He continued to play an active part in the upkeep of the vessel until shortly before he died and I will miss him greatly, somehow part of Destriero has died with him.

Captain Oduardo Mancini, RIP you will be sorely missed.

    Destriero

Well no doubt Destriero accompanied by Kalamoun both toys of Prince Karim Aga Khan III who is a big enthusiasts of boating and fast life style. Destriero almost has the same lines as once of Gentry Eagle which once converted to luxury yacht was even more adorable.

    Hello,

I am a new user on this forum. I am a fan of the Destriero. Do you know who owns this boat today ? Why is she in Devonport ?

    Thanks,
    Etienne

    Thread Update: Destriero News?

Just received pictures of Destriero outside Lurssen's Lemwerder facility. Can't even begin to speculate what she's doing there, but could Donald Blount's original work be up for a re-fit? And what about Shergar in the next pic? Or is that Kalamoun? Did Lurssen offer a two-for-one special on a joint re-fit?

    Hhmmmm...

    Hi,

I think it's Kalamoun S and S designed and built about 500 metres down the River from where she is now by Abeking and Rasmussen.

She was once the fastest motor yacht according to something I just read. 46 kts.

Like GL1 said, "Destriero" is out of the water at Lurssen. Here is a pic sent to me and taken by fellow member Leveller.
