Time for the first oil change on my C-series after repower. Figured it would be easy since I have a brand new oil change system, and pretty good access around the engines.

well... that would have been the case if the geniuses over at Cummins had not decided to mount the coolant filter right in front of the oil filter making it impossible to pull It straight out. Can’t go out sideways because of the dipstick.

So the only way to to remove the filter is to pull the bracket holding the coolant filter... luckily the hoses are long enough to push it out the way... no excuse for crap like that since there is enough room to mount it a couple inches to the side.

I have never dealt with a coolant filter mounted down there on any come-a-part engine before. Must be a new and improved headache design (always improving on the PIA factor).

Yep, get some longer bolts (metric) and shim that sucker out. Or a new angle strip and move forward a little.
    But that does suck...

That is a press in oil dip tube, You may consider the longer locking dip and tube that would help a little also. Press in with a lil after tilt.

On the cummins I deal with, they're on the front/top of the engine as well as fuel filters......what if you put spacers between the bracket and the block and space it 1" further away from the block, would that work?

I'd consider moving both. That dipstick tube also looks hard pressed against and I wonder how long it'll be before engine vibration brakes it. Terrible design. They're design team certainly went out of their way to make it a PITA.

Yeah... with ours, I decided it was also even slightly easier to change that coolant filter at the same time, too...

Surprised this is your first oil change; thought you did that repower a few years ago now...

I m probably going to move the bracket over to the two bolts on the right. Just need longer hoses.

I had to much stuff to finish on the boat after the repower before we could use it. Have only been using it in the last guest, and only 50 hours so far. Too many toys, not enough time :).

We invested in a pipe clencher so we can make any pipework we want. Would move the oil and coolant position soonest.

Pascal, Just looking at your photo in post #1. Can you unbolt the coolant filter from the Bracket. Unbolt the bracket, Rotate to the right 180 degrees and bolt back on. The bracket / mounting plate for the coolant filter would be higher and to the right. It looks like it would give you the room to just remove the oil filter by lowering and it would come out under the coolant hose. No new hose needed.

Lets fix all of this mess.

I may be down your way soon. Hoses and most fittings already in inventory.

This lock down Ship has me ready to jump out of the box for any activity..

My next trip is pending the sea trials on a 2000, 45 Cabo.
M/V Cysto has come in sights of my friend / buyer.
I shot him down on a few high strung, high hour 92 powered expresses and he found this tub in your hood.
Do you know the boat? Can you comment?

So, If I can swing a trip in your direction, First rounds on me....

I'll bring my hammers to fix you or your issues...

The first & next larger POS than a Mutt would be a Sanlorenzo.
But that's me guessing About what your referring to.
