I’m looking for a replacement steering pump for a Sunseeker with caterpillar 3196 660 hp. The original is a Hypo Marine model HM1886/8 from the UK which is difficult to find. Maybe some other brand?

What steering system do you have (Hynautic or Capilano)?

Not sure. Hypo Marine is the steering pump and reservoir.

Power steering assist pumps may look the same on the outside. May share same casting numbers but pending the brand and specs of the system it is working for, may have many different internal parts and or adjustments internally, providing different flow, pressure and pressure relief.
Knowing more about the system vendor could help in trouble shooting your system or getting support and recommendations on replacement pumps.

Witch brings up the next question; unless your pump is physically damages and in un-repairable condition, why do you thing it needs replacement?

You ever make your trip? How did you do and what numbers did you find?
You can answer back on the original post.

Waiting on the steering pump issue to be resolved.

It's probably repairable but we were looking for a faster option. Also, the boat is about to make the trip down the Baja and would prefer a new pump.
