  1. THE CABLEMASTER: ShorePower Made Easy

One way a boater can run afoul of the gear when docking or undocking is by wrestling with heavy, soiled, shore-power cables - and maybe wrenching his back in the process. With the touch of a button, Glendinning Marine Products' Cablemaster units will extend, retract and store many different sizes of shore cable, keeping them out of the water and the decks free of excess coils of cable.

Cablemaster comes in three models and can handle 30- to 200-amp cables. Time-tested Cablemasters, widely accepted by major yacht manufacturers worldwide, handle cables up to 2 inches (50 mm) in outside diameter.

Unlike industrial reels, the Cablemaster system does not carry shore power through slips rings or brushes, which can be susceptible to moisture or corrosion in a harsh marine environment. Cablemaster eliminates the detachable plug connection on the boat and allows shore power cable to be “hard-wired” to the boat, eliminating electrical system hot spots and voltage drops.

The maximum cable storage length is limited only by the amount of onboard storage area. A thru-deck cable feed allows storage of fully retracted cable below, either in available space or coiled inside an optional styrene container. This frees up valuable deck space for other uses.

A remote control, which easily retrofits to existing Cablemaster units, allows one-person operation of a Cablemaster with up to 100' of cable, without affecting the standard control switch function.

Glendinning also offers TV-Telephone Master for combination television and telephone/fax cables, plus the HoseMaster for power retrieval and storage of water hoses up to 65 feet.

The suggested retail prices of Cablemaster's three models are: $598 for 30-amp power cable, $970 for 50-amp power cable and $ 2,295 for 100-amp power cable.
