    Can you put a DVM over it and give us a resistive value?

    Also a report on how hot the new ones get after you install them?

    S W, Delco and many others use a resistive swing. Mostly a shorted sender, the meter reads full or max. Generically called S W compatible.
    VDO Had a bass ackwards way to do it (short read empty).
    VDO offers both technologies these days.

    In these older boats, what direction did the VDO gauges swing?

    rcrapps, the in voltage is 34v and the exit voltage is 14v just like the original one and yes, it gets very hot.

    I think he wanted a measurement of the resistance, rather than the voltage stepdown.

    Ok, I do not know how to get that information. I do have a multimeter, don’t know why but I have one, if you can tell me where to set the dial and what probe a put where I will get the information.
