Is it a Rolla certified prop shop? Rolla's are an entirely different deal, than your typical props.
Of course not! Broker wants his local guy to do it. Same guy who did all Viking / Ocean props before veem came into the picture :-/
Interesting the seller would risk the yachts sale over a non-Rolla prop shop. Is he not conscious?
Being unconscious is probably what go the seller/boat here in the first place. Especially, Considering there are several dealers in the near area.
It's been a frustrating and emotional roller coaster to this point. Now we wait for next Friday. We either accept the project or we reject it at this point.

I'm with Dockmaster, hard to get past that the Captain worked for the seller 20 years but no info about drop in claimed speed performance?
Before I really start calling the captain in, I have to ask some questions;
When asked about speed, Was in kts or mph.
Sales people luv MPH, real boaters know kts.
The captain may have tried to be a sales person.
You also made reference to a 30 min sea trial.

was not FT on boat. As needed and for maintenance.
2-4’s offshore, ran both ways up and down beach. Was in knots, I do have video. Captain didn’t try to sell anything and it didn’t feel like any struggle; planed as expected. Ride quality was good, as she’s a 90K lb 60’ SF with a pretty nice v-hull. Just felt a bit sluggish in terms of what we experienced with cruise speed / load and WOT speed when compared to buddy’s boat and published specs. Boat should be able to cruise 28-32kn (if desired) and lightly loaded should hit ~37 on the pins.
Our current B50 runs 28-30 and I hit 36.5kn yesterday doing a brief WOT run. For example, the Bertram 50 hull comes alive and performs very nicely above 26knots and I really don’t want to go back to cruising ~25 (unless it’s by choice to pull the sticks back). Part of our performance gains on the Bertram 50 came from repower weight reduction, the increased HP from 735 to 1000 and swinging 5 blade veems - which seem to provide much needed stern lift (she now prefers no tab).
To me, the 60 just seems to feel better running closer to 30kn if you can stomach the fuel burn - - but I do hear the 60’s like some tab. We swap props and re-run her Friday. Lift scale supposedly also being repaired (fingers crossed), otherwise next closest yard is ~ 20nm…
When you re-trial I do hope you spend some time at 80% load and get some good numbers. I still find it odd that this wasn't done last time, or at least you didn't report the numbers. I'm also surprised your CAT techs didn't want to run it at 80% for some time. Given you are looking to run a bit faster this seems to be where you will spend most of your cruise loads.
Reporting back in. Happy to have attained the speeds expected although still slightly under propped with WOT loads variating between 94-97% Max. Cruise load 1850rpm ~60% @ 28-28.5kn… 2050rpm ~72-74% @ solid 32kn. No tab.
Very pleased. Some additional tuning could yield some additional performance, but I’d like to see us properly load the boat with gear and maybe a tender on the foredeck first. I could play with the tabs a bit more, too.
What was WOT rpm's/speed? Trim tabs should add 1.5-2 knots to your speed. You want to be closer to 2350 rpms than right at 2300 rpms with 3412's.......WOT

Well, if the new boat gets the same treatment as your 50 it should be pretty nice.
Closing the loop. Finally into day 3 of our maiden cruise and couldn’t be more pleased with the boat and performance. We spent 3 solid months virtually 7 days a week working on her before we ran out of time with winter weather. Never spent the night aboard or traveled more than 3 miles from the slip during this time.
With motor services now up to date along with completely new bottom job & cutlass’, she’s turning good speeds, loads and fuel burn. Very impressed. The B60 hull is very confidence inspiring for the coastal cruising we do; we left Black Friday in the face of a not-so-favorable forecast for day 1 in the Mid-Atlantic.
Prior to departure, with full fuel / water / extra tools and provisions she hit ~2330+/- @ 36kn. Load was something like 95 or 96%.
With 1/2 fuel, full water and 5 people yesterday I noted 32.5-33kn @ 2100 @ 75% load. 30/31kn @ 55% load @ 1900 burning 86/hr. 28kn @ 55% 1800. 26kn @50% 1700 and 66gph.
I still need to break out a note pad and go through all the numbers for the prop shop but I’m thinking new Veems might be on my Christmas list - - just maybe I’ll have them by Spring. Based upon my experience tuning our 50 after the repower, I’m thinking there’s some room to work with the wheels a bit. Also noticing a bit of bow rail vibration at certain rpm, so will do engine alignment and pull shafts to inspect / replace if necessary. Those 5 blade Veem interceptors sure were smooth right out of the box!
