It seems things are wetter than normal for our German friends today courtesy of the same weather system that passed over Bermuda last week. Looks like someone neglected to check the historic flood charts when they built that promenade. Must be interesting there when the winter storms hit.
It is quite interesting locally, the riverside establishments usually have water tight doors and glued in windows, there are lock gates on some of the surrounding streets if they are close to the water level. Life only seems to be disrupted for a couple of hours , I am told this is the season for the NW and Low Pressure to produce these floods. There is also a move underway to increase the height of the Dykes all the way along that has been going on for a few years now, the lower sections will have certainly had a test today.
