I know that thing is on the bottom, but looking at the sail boat behind it I have to think there's deep water a couple of feet off its side. I also notice that there's no lines tying it to shore. Maybe the town is waiting for it to float down the New River to save money on towing it?

'Course I was joking, but for all the faults of Concordia disaster, the salvage bit was indeed widely recognized as a remarkable success.

BTW, among "all the faults", I keep saying from the beginning that this should include Carnival management - of which Costa is a wholly owned subsidiary, for those who don't know.
The captain was in fact a crook, but he was also sentenced to 16 years of prison for what happened.
Those who deliberately chose to hire captains who are great at entertaining and PR, rather than for their competence and professionality in their specific job, should also be held responsible, in my very humble view.
    Just saying.

The company and it's managers go largely unscathed. The captain wasn't just trying to entertain, he was following a regular pattern. Your policies as a company aren't what is written somewhere, but what you encourage or allow to happen on a regular basis.

    Absolutely.
It's just a shame that judges struggle to prove that they have a large share of responsibility.
If and when they even try, that is. :(

I would guess the county finally contracted a crew and barge to remove it.

Or sued the owner. Or just got tired of it being part of the Jungle Queen tour.

The Jungle Queen tour was cut in half with the Corona Virus.
They turn and go back down half way up the New River.
Don’t see the Queen much but keep hearing a female Captain on the VHF radio, she sounds very professional and if I was 5 years younger...

    LOL...
That was the best one liner on this thread!!! I can just here the anouncer " here to the right we have an unauthorized charter for a rap music video poluting our waterways"

Yes I only see the JQ once or twice a day passing the Davie bridge, passed it the other night in the dink at little Florida and it was packed. I can't say I miss it....

If they were packed (not smart) wonder why they've cut their route short? Oh well, at least that POS is finally gone. The New River is a beautiful ride. Didn't need that eyesore.

Because I don't think they're doing their little island park thing as much. Perhaps only for the dinner cruise? IDK. I've been up and down the river quite a bit lately and don't see/hear them on the radio that often.

Cool in the 60s is hokey today should be a new thread. I grew up in Ft Laud. New River, Lauderdale Isles in the 60s. The Jungle Queen was going strong even then. Yes even the Seminole Indian Alligator Wrestler. Check out the link and play the history video. https://www.junglequeen.com/sightseeing-cruises.html

I can't tell you anything about the 60's considering I wasn't born yet, but something tells me I would have found them hokey even then.

Might have to change your handle to Youngerboater.:D Nothing hokey about micro-mini skirts and hip-hugger jeans or groups like the Grateful Dead, but I really hope leisure suits don't make a comeback.
