2010 Ft. Lauderdale Christmas Yacht Parade

For the 2010 Ft. Lauderdale Christmas Boat Parade, I took a different approach to capturing the holiday spirit. In year's past, I would take up position along the parade and take blurry night time pictures. In 2008, Tom Serio brought his Nikon to Bahia Mar and made light stand still, seen here...

We skipped 2009 due to other commitments, but I returned this year with a plan to cover the pre-show activities and take our readers along with me for a cruise through Ft. Lauderdale in the daylight hours leading up to showtime. I splashed in Pompano and made my way south to Ft. Lauderdale, down into the New River Canal, where the Christmas Boat Parade originates. I held position at the entrance to New River just long enough for Bubba, the pistachio spitting, redneck Florida Fish and Wildlife Officer to harass me, ending up in a $73 ticket. The first citation I've had in years and I'm pretty sure the lettering on YF's photo boat had something to do with it.

Here's my scoot for the day's festivities. If you saw this boat, you're probably on the Internet now...

Had to post two shots of this boat, because it's prone to duplicates...

"Cecelia Mae" seems to be a permanent resident at the Blue Moon restaurant. I don't know anything about the build, other than it's a new candidate for the Rogues thread.

I know this boat, but I can't remember it. Funny, it doesn't look that forgetful...

Mystique has TWO cameras mounted on the raised pilot house. Varying viewing angles for bow ornaments...?

"Seaquest" is about a 55-foot boat, but has more on-deck space than most 90 footers...

"Loriblu" makes shoes. In fact, an assortment of stilettos. The perfect footwear for boating...

Westports were out in force. This is "Double Eagle". There were a good number of Crescents lining various docks too. All of them seem to be aging very well.

"Gallant Lady" has become a permanent fixture at Bahia Mar. I hope Jim is looking down and smiling at his legacy. And while he's at it, maybe he can work some heavenly magic and drop the price of new Toyotas!
