It's an italian-built speed boat called a MAS, named after the WWI Italian torpedo launches (Motorbarca Armata SVAN--MAS) which proved as successful as WWII PT Boats.

    Thanks, Kelly.
The Rybovich guys basically dropped a new interior/cockpit/flybridge onto a Lydia hull during her 2004/2005 refit.
We ran her down to the Miami Show from Ft. Laud. on Wednesday at a slow cruise of 24 knots ( 1800 rpm, ~ 50 gph ) into a SW 20-knot breeze/short chop a few miles offshore. I expected the forward EZ2CY panels to be streaming, but she is an astonishingly dry ride. With a fine entry and what appears to be slightly more deadrise than a 54/60 Bertram, she is a sweet hull.

For all of you folks who could not make it to the Miami International Boat Show, esp. the Brokerage portion held along Collins Avenue on Miami Beach, let me tell you what you missed.
We had a 'Chamber of Commerce' weather day this Saturday-- bright blue skies, blinding sunshine, slight breeze, about perfect temps from 10:00-3:00 of high sixties Farenheit.
Of course, when I rode my bike from the 'cheap seats' parking to my "office" at 9:00, I froze my tookus off. 49 F, 20 knots ( I ride fast :) ).
We had, bless 'em, qualified buyers in abundance all day long and stayed 'overtime' this p.m. to yak with them all.

I mean, look at Brandon's great pix-- boat shows don't get much better than this!

As Carl mentioned, the mini-Freightliners mit go-fast boat in tow kept circling the main drag from 41st to 50th streets, all the while dodging some of the prettiest females on the planet.

How can we sell boats in this type of climate? Well, OK, we're pros  .

    Overall, a nice bunch today.

Makes one wonder what the poor people are doing. ( I know--I know-- they're crewing on sailboats doing a 'round the buoys race on Biscayne Bay tomorrow).

    Brandon,
I may have had an edge since I was working the show on a press pass. But I did ask permission to take photos of the Broward and that I would be posting them on a website, and they said fine. I've learned that in many situations, especially if you're taking inside shots, you should ask permission to not only take the photos but if you are going to post for the world to see. Many of these yachts are owned and not everyone is willing to share shots.
Here are a few of the new Hatteras models and a Viking San Lorenzo.

    Guys,

I'm moving this thread into the General Discussion forum for awhile. Between Brandon's GREAT photo coverage, Tom's first ever published images of Broward's new 120' and Loren's look at our world that leaves us laughing... this is a thread for everyone to enjoy.

A big THANK YOU you to the above mentioned for an outstanding job! And to all you lurkers, now would be a good time speak up and show your appreciation.

Indeed. I attended the show(s) and very much enjoyed the photo coverage here. It's always nice to see a photograhpic perspective from that different angle, not typically seen. Thanks to all!!

    ...Did you say, SNOW?

I had never been to see Florida befor my trip this past January. Silly me, I thought, who would be stupid enough to bring Three sweaters to Florida?

Second on my 'go-see' list, (after discovering Larry Smith was on permananet vacation,) was Broward Marine. Again, here I was wearing a tie for an interview, like I thought this might be some swank bunch you meet uptown. (Manhattan that is.) Their boats, their yard, and especially their people impressed me. Butch, the Dock Manager, has got to be one of the finest people I've met so far.

But, guys, this interior stinks. I mean I hate to pull rank, (having never stepped foot on any yacht,) but wasn't this one featured in Architectural Digest, back in 1974? OK, I exaggerate. No egg-shaped chairs, no shag carpet. Must be from the 80's.

Fine woodwork. Marble counter tops. Practical lighting. Sweet trim. Great worksmanship. No taste. Frankly, I'm beginning to appreciate the fact that they haven't returned my call!

    Ps:

Normally I'm more careful to check spelling. I can't edit, or post images without an up-to-date broward. This Mac is System 8.1, but it still fits my subjective matter nicely. :)

When it comes to design and marketing of such, you need not look further than “demographics”.
As you can imagine, the purchasers of multi-million dollar yachts are older mature people that in most cases prefer rich traditional materials.
If you study design trends, product sales/marketing is designed and directed to attract the said “target market”.
There is no shortage of; flavour of the day, modern, contemporary or even “disco” interiors for the Med or Caribb Yacht charter set.
