    No that's really the minimum you want to see with TIB's. They will live a long and happy life that way.

    OK, seems were talking about two boats here.
    When talking max RPM loaded, we need to know max PRM high idle (no load).
    If were spinning 2550 no load, then the governor is going to stop the engine at 2550 loaded.
    The only way your going to know if your loaded correctly to to ad prop till you loose just a bit off of no load rpm.
    For the OP running at 2600 rpm and not making speed (IMO), he is under propped.
    Then RT46 came in with a 2550 RPM, I figured later for his boat.

    Lucky for all it's a straight 6. Probably the text book example of the best 6 lung cranks known. But that chalk board rattle on my back is still haunting.

    So, back to the book. Detroit 2-stroke 101; what is the no load, high idle (no load max) AND your heavy ship WOT in gear?

    Congratulations on the boat, I recently purchased a 1989 43' Post with the 550 HP 6V92's and was told by previous owner that he burned 45 gph crusing at 1850 RPM (generator running as well). Curious on what RPM you were running? At 1850 RPM I am at 20 knots. Thank you.
