Yes there are solar panels up there.
My Father played with them in his Beneteau but didn't fall in love with it (cost v. return v. aesthetics v. personal preference) and ended up removing them a season or two later.

You can spot a cruiser / live aboard a mile away. Wife always ask me "how do you know from so far away?" Look at all the solar panels, wind veins, jerry cans, bikes, and laundry hanging about.



If I could find a way to embed solar photocells in teak, I'd be able to upgrade my preference in wine from a box to a jug with a hook.

True, but ideally their mounting should be adjustable so that you can point them at the sun and secure them in position. This is quite difficult with large panels. I think that if you have panels mounted at the arch you should also be able to remove them in case of heavy weather.
