I'm the Captain of a 38m motor yacht built in 1996. I'm trying to get the owners interested in remodelling the front of the wheelhouse. Removing the heavily-raked windows and replacing them with vertical windows (or near-vertical). The problem is trying to visualise what it will look like.

I'm looking for someone to modify the attached image to bring the windows vertical and to carry the wheelhouse roof forward accordingly.

    Any takers?

Well Steve, I just remodeled the picture for you. I reduced it from 2400 pixels to 640 pixels in width, as per our guidelines. Please read our rules before posting again. I will not reduce the next one. I'll remove it.

A pair of line drawings or a bigger file would be practical

While you're at it, extending the aft shearline and deck canopy would be nice too. Don't you just love photo editing software? Even an idiot yacht broker like me can make yacht design modifications!

    Thanks

Great job SeaEric. Exactly what I was looking for. Now I've got something to kickstart the conversation.

  9. Mr. Steve.

Does this boat has a brazilian flag? It seems.

They are both green, but my guess is Saudi Arabia...;)

  11. For me is strange also, because even having some yachts in brazil and also producers exporting to USA, seemed a too good european styled line one for there. This made me curious about my ignorance, because i know how are brazilian yachts and they are different. It is strange of beeing Saudi Arabia, because the point of the gold lozang in middle of it. This point has not in Saudi Arabia flag. Strange really, but the lower of white 'marks' says really beeing Saudi Arabia, even for the facts of the style, which i hardly doubt of in brazilian market.

  13. many thanks for elucidating my curiosity. Now is 101% Saudi Arabian.
Unfortunatly my hope to beloging or beeing in Brazil made me sad.

I really had not seen the 'in jeddah' in his name... My lapse... :D but could have been 0.01% a brazilian one in those waters.... which i don't believe really some day had. ;)

I think if you're going to tinker with the lines of the upper bridge windows you'll need to bring the lower windows (saloon or master?) to to match.

I'll have a nose around and see if I can find what I mean to illustrate.

I wandererd around the yard here and every vessel with a vertical upper set of windows had the same below:

Granted Sunrays and Lady Christina are both from the same stable, but I think if you do one without the other it will look rather odd.

Perhaps something like this would complete the concept.

I agree with FullaFlava ... and since you are in the process of changing her already, how about bringing the whole bridge a bit more to the front, ... extend the dodger of the maindeck as well a bit and repaint the window section in a slight off white? ... :D

Probably nothing to be done about it, but those aft upper deck windows give the look of a Florida Room, almost a tacky afterthought. Too bad, otherwise the vertical window design looks pretty good.

That is also what is bothering me about the profile. It would look better with some sunscreening in front of the windows, to blend them more into the superstructure. If you make the screen movable, its still possible to have an undistracted view if needed. Still a bit boxy at the back though.

  20. wonderful suggestions for an upgrade Atomare. :) The brise-soleils behind could be a little bit wider for more sunbath inside. Actually this was a very strange point in the previous actual design that made me odd also for a harmony in the profile.

I would suggest a complementation to put a reflective chrome insufilm in all windows. It would be great. I personally do not like black windows in white ones.
