i just found an old design with freeship - it was planned as a 54m trawler with aft tender storage. the crew was supposed to be in the bow and there should be a heliport too. some side-terraces should let the guest access to the water. i gave it up after some bug destroyed my 20% finished yacht - unsaved....
Here's a company that builds aluminum cats. Yellow Cat II, is seen in my neighborhood periodically. Very functional yet a bit industrial. Great fishing boat. http://www.teknicraft.com/recentlaunchings/yellowcat2.htm
maybe i should send them my design their yachts are very nice but i think a bit too industrial they need a modern design *hrhrhr*
hey ho, lets say, NOW i'm tired *g* i got some more try with freehand, this is what happened in the aft it got a swimming-platform, where the guest can come out because its around the aft i will upload some plans tomorrow but now the yacht *g*

Hello my name is Jacob and im really interested in yacht design. so farm my drawings ha just been on pappers with a papper and pencil. i wonder how you guys do it and specally you Modin, do you first make a skiss on papper the scan in too the computer or do you freehand on a drawingboard directly in the computer???
Hi Jacob and welcome to the YachtForums! I think it helps if you are able to use a pencil and paper to start with, but the way I design with Freehand is almost the same thing. In another thread I showed how I usually work if it is just a styling concept; http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/6763-post80.html I start with a waterline and add lines that I can move around before I am making the filled patterns. I often keep a lot of the half finished drawings around the one I am working with, until I decide which one looks best for the next step. So it goes pretty fast. It is a little different when I design our production boats, as smaller boats must have every inch in the right place in all dimensions. So there I make a sort of x-ray pictures so I know it will be possible to build, before I put the final touches to the renderings. I always have a grid on the screen with measurements and also read the figures in the info bar as I draw. Big yachts are easier to start with, but of course with many more hours when you come down to the general arrangement and interior design. Good luck and please post your ideas when you have something to show!
