Oh wait, I think I can translate some of that,,,, Poor (NO) calculation of ballast.. Near instant replay of a special here from years ago. https://www.yachtforums.com/threads...capsizes-upon-launch.22939/page-11#navigation https://www.yachtforums.com/threads/part-2-northern-marine-90-yacht-capsizes-upon-launch.22987/ I forgot how involved we all were on this past event.
It appeared to be taking on water from the stern prior to the roll over. Stability calculations and ballast can't compensate for an open or failed garage door.
That's wild to see. It just ... rolled over. Didn't even seem to be sitting down in the water. I can't imagine what you'd be feeling as the owner.
On some videos you can see it took a while for it to roll which would be consistent with the boat taking on water and then rolling. Suspense they launch a new vessel down a ramp like that and don’t have any tow boat on stand by. No technical team to board the vessel and inspect for leaks. after yard work the boat always stays in the slings until everything is inspected including shaft and rudder seals, thru hulls even lights if they ve been worked on.
I remember that thread very well, train-wreck in slow motion, both the Yacht and the opinionated comments from a certain big mouth engineer As for this Turk: Wow, no adult supervision and sad to watch. Hopefully the yard had full coverage insurance on the boat, if not maybe the future owner did, but why would he, no acceptance ceremony or closing yet, but he surely must have paid 80-90% of the total cost so far.
The pod was still in gear (reverse?) when the hull capsized. I assume they thought self propelled back to a dock.
While I managed a major schooner refit for UK owner in a Bodrum yard I saw two new build vessels capsize. Both were big motor yachts launched like the video using traditional fishing boat practice on sledges off the beach. One at Yalakavak other at Ichmere, both motor yachts 34m and 40m were timber construction. Both designs were 3 deck obviously top heavy and because they are dragged from sheds to the beach for sledge launch yard owners won't pre-ballast the hull against natural buoyancy. If they do float the temp Turk skipper won't go thru standard commissioning procedures, they just slam the hammer down and go hard for an hour...brain dead and refuse to learn
