    Has anyone put a washer/dryer in a 43 Post? If so, where did you put it.

    dryer was originally above the toilet in the head if equipped with one... Not sure if they ever put a washer in these boats...

    Interesting. I found photos of two boats with an integrated washer/dryer in the upper hanging closet in the guest stateroom. I'm close to the current Post who does re-fits so plan to call them once it's ours.

    Generally it'll be a washer/drier combo.

    I looked at several older 46 post last Year and 2 of them had a dryer above the toilet in the port side head. there was a washing machine Behind the starboard side state Room next to the water heater and you had access from A panel in the salon floor.

    The "washer in the dungeon" was one of the things my wife disliked about the 46. From I think 94 on they put both off the hallway.

    on my 46, the dryer is in the bunk room and there is a door on the engine room bulkhead that opens to the dryer.
    the washer is under the steps from the salon to the recessed galley area.
    we rarely use the washing machine.
    we do use the dryer from time to time.
    I have seen a washer/dryer combo unit that would fit in the same space as the current dryer.
    I could then remove the current washer and gain some decent storage space.

    Make sure you get a dryer that vents overboard/out side the boat, or I.M.O. it's worthless. Steams up the interior with out going overboard. I had a ventless dryer on my boat. I tossed that along with the washer and installed a nice freezer and storage space with in the enclosed closet space. Most marinas have a washer/dryer on site which I also rarely use. I like dirt! :)

    Have been warned of the vent overboard requirement. I think that is why the ones I've seen are in the guest closet, so can tie the vent into the existing shower/head vent system.

    The washer/dryer is my wife's one "must have in our next boat". The one time she wanted to do laundry on a trip we were at a marina without an onsite laundry facility (Norfolk waterfront). They gave her a free ride coupon for a taxi to the nearby laundromat. Did not go over well.

    Got ya. Not sure you can tie into any other vent, as it may back feed it's self into the shower or head. Plus you will have deal with lint getting in the duct, some always does. I would want an independent exhaust if you have the room. Anyway good luck. I'm sure there is a way of getting it done.
    Lol, my girlfriend and I like to eat! Lol, so we chose the freezer. It's nice to have ice cream while under way or on the hook.:)

    MY DRYER IS ABOVE THE HEAD AND THE WASHING MACHINE WAS IN THE COCKPIT CABINET WHERE SOME HAVE FREEZERS ON MY 43

    Going through the old manuals i got when boat closed it turns out our boat came with a Sanyo dryer over the head. I think we can put a combo washer/dryer in that space. I suspect that will be a winter layup project. Will remove the owner fabricated shelf in that space currently and see what is behind it.

    My 46 had a washer dryer in a cabinet on the back deck also but it was ling gone when we bought the boat.

    New dryer installed. Turned out to be pretty easy, the limit was finding a unit that would go through the doors. Master door and to head are 1/2" larger than going through guest and needed the extra. Didn't remove cabinet doors but in retrospect probably should have for a touch more room getting into the cabinet.

    Yes.

    The original was not vented, but there was a duct from the head shower vent fan into the dryer cabinet to make it "semi" vented. The new one is vented and uses a duct to the head vent and out the side of the hull.

    So, if the blower is not on, some, lots or most of the hot air goes back to the head?

    I have a backflow damper on the way that will go behind the shower vent and close when the dryer is running.

    Would you check back and tell if you are satisfied with the install and what manufacturer you went with ?

    I did the install. Was fairly easy as used the existing power outlet and modified the existing exhaust air ducting. It is a tight fit to get into the cabinet where prior unit was (it had been removed long before we obtained the boat) but unit is light enough to carry and install with one person.

    Unit is 2.6 CU FT Euhomy from Walmart (also available on Amazon). It had many good reviews and was also recommended by one of the online Best Reviews websites. It was one of the several units I found that would fit through the cabin doors to get to the head, and through the cabinet entrance (although if I did it again I would remove the cabinet doors for a little more room).

    I expect it will get it's first use during a week trip we have scheduled for late August.
