I surveyed SHEER LACE, and found that she was mechanically sound, but there is so much delamination on the interior panelling, and enough waviness in her paint that it would cost about $ 400,000 to put her in the condition I wanted her in. After another bad survey, and a third bad seatrial, as well as looking at every Lace on the market, I gave up, and bought a Lyman Morse. In my opinion, the best Lace on the market is the 52 in Seattle, although she has a higher asking price, she will probably be the cheapest one to own in the long run.
    Best,

    Susan,
I am not familiar with sheer lace by that name but as an original owner of a midnight lace 52 express model, of which only two were made. I'm sure I could tell you a great deal about the boats. I can also tell you that after 29 years of ownership "Black Swan" is for sale. Without hesitation I can say that Black Swan is the best looking Lace ever built. The express model is the original design and this boat has been extremely customized over the years and not seen the neglect that many of the older boats have. The boat is not currently listed but is for sale privately. I can make information and photos available through this forum or privately. I can be contacted at EMAIL REMOVED

    maldwin,
when you surveyed sheer lace was there any indication of hull delamination anywhere? can you confirm that the hull core material is plastic honeycomb and not balsa wood ? my understanding is that the superstructure had been painted, has the black hull been painted as well or is it still original gelcoat?
... on another tack, do you know who owns black magic and is it for sale?
    thanking you in advance,
    Susan

No, mine was last named "Rhode Island III", was "Amazing Lace" before that, and originally sold as "Black Star".

Her new name is "Leather & Lace" after the song and Waylon Jennings album of the same name. I did a show with Waylon many years ago and always thought this would be a very cool name if I could ever find one of these incredible yachts.

I surveyed the Seattle boat "Pretty Woman" and she is very nice and the owner is a great guy and a meticulous fellow. She would need her bottom done (lots of blistering), and a few relatively minor mechanical issues. The price was a little high then, but after adding up what I am putting into my restoration project, perhaps I should have bought her! "Anhinga" in Ft. Lauderdale is mechanically good and has had her bottom done recently, but the inside? Pretty sad.

Let us not forget Jessi Colter and Stevie Nicks.

Would they be Arsenic and Old Lace?

    Way off base.

Stevie wrote the song for them, became aware of a possible split, did the song herself (Don Henley, too).

Jessie stayed with Waylon until his passing.

Correct. The Don Henley/Stevie Nicks cut is great but I always thought that Waylon and Jessie would have absolutely killed it; perhaps not as "pretty" as the actual cut but a lot more "gritty", especially given the name of the album. Either way, this song is at the top of my playlist!

An attempt at humor, within the constraints of the thread theme.

I am a big fan of the Wanted! The Outlaws album. Jessie added a lot with her presence. Only got to see Waylon live once. Interesting complement to Willie, who is one of my all time favorites. To the folks that say Jazz is "America's only native art form", I say "you forgot Willie".

    Sorry for the hijack.

You guys are dragging up memories of sitting on the 'Rose with Willie and Merle, listening to stories about the good old days. Waylon and Jessie are on the top of my "good music" list.

My name is Lance and I used to own the 65' Midnight Lace built in Brazil (named PRIORITY). I would like to locate the boat and repurchase it. Does anyone know where it is or even still floating?

Hello dmorrow56, Welcome to YachtForums. Do you have a HIN#, USCG Doc# or the name of the Brazilian shipyard that built her? What year was she built? What year did you sell her? Any of that info may help track her down, unless someone here knows her whereabouts.

Thank you for such a quick response. She was built in 88. Bought her in 98. Only had her for 2 years. We don't have any paperwork, it has all been lost. I talked to Rick at Rex a couple of days ago, they had it listed for sale back in 92-94 but they lost all of their paperwork in a hurricane. He was going to check with some of the old timers to see if they remember anything.

I remember the boat and an article about it in some mag, probably power and motor yacht. If you can't find it I still have a great 52 for sale.
