The number above is the spec # and I'm looking for the model number. I guess they don't put it on the label so you have to call the watermaker manufacturer to purchase. Maybe able to have the electric motor repaired but exploring all options.
I am assuming this is the low pressure pump? If it is the low pressure pump, you can easily find a substitute as long as it's the same pumping capacity and pressure, HP, voltage and amp draw. They usually just use a centrifigal pump just like what is typically used for an air conditioning pump for the low pressure side. What brand of watermaker and size?
Capt J, Yes it is the low pressure side. The manufacturer is Sea Recovery and its an Aqua Whisper SRC900-2 model. 120v 1/2hp. Your help is appreciated.
Look for the frame number on the tag, usually listed as F.R. That will specify the mount, shaft diameter and rpm of the motor. Grainger has alot of motors in stock and will ship same day.
What you need for the replacement motor. 1- voltage 2- Horser power 3- Frame (FR) 4- Phase ( single phase, three phase or DC ) 5- Duty 6- Service Factor (SF) Aditional info is always good Manufacturers spec or cat #. Model #. Just about anyone can be a Baldor distrubtor but only a few are really good, stocking distributors. Finding a good one is key. If the Frame is something like 56C that is pretty easy to find. If the frame is something like 56CZ or any # followed by a Z then you will prolly need to go back to the manufacturer. The Z usually indicates something odd about the motor, specifically for the job it was made to do. It sometimes means the the manufacutrer wants exclusive rights to that particular style motor so he can have you on the hook. A good motor shop can really be a help here. Also as stated above, grainger is a good place to start, for information if nothing else. Usually a motor shop will do a little better on price if there is a motor shop near you. Grainger delivers but I do not think they serve the general public, you need to be in business or at least have a business card to get credit.
Dont forget the rpm as well. Grainger doesnt sell Baldor motors either but I have had good luck with their brand. They might be able to cros reference the motor you have by giving them all the info off the tag.
If the pump assembly is in good condition, the electric motor can be rebuilt pretty cheaply, usually around $100 by an electric motor shop. (if it hasn't had saltwater intrusion) If you can find the flow rating on the pump, you can substitute an Oberdorfer which is readily available.....
Hi capt.J, my name is Jesus. my boat is a ferretti 68/2008, and we had problems with this kind of pump. In Brazil, is too much dificult repair baldor pumps. we see this kind in osmoses salt water decices. but i dont understand why this kind is diferent for a normal centrifuglvpump?
Like Capt J told you you can use any other centrifical pump same flow and pressure rate, just remember that salt water so you need to buy one for sea water but in emergency I all ready did normal pump can make the job just salt destroy rapidly. Ferretti I can imagine that a Sea Recovery water maker ? what is you production 1800gal/day? Hugues
thanks. Yes, 1800 gal/day. Horizon. In Brasil , we uses SILENT pumps in emergency. work for a year, thanks for your help. if a can help you, only call.
