    Father’s day launch , my CC Dory rustic but I don’t mind .
    I’ll restore it when I get time.
    Still has the 1974 gelcoat on the whole top side it polishes out OK.
    Heading out this afternoon the first time this year.

    Nice little vessel, I've got a 1974 Mako , 23ft, inboard, like yours.

    Thanks . Your Mako is a very. nice boat . I do enjoy my CC Dory in board.
    Wasn’t enjoying it this morning, chasing out winter gremlins.

    But we just had a nice run around Cape May consisting of back bay , ocean , and canal run . Had Sweetie standing and holding on to the “Oh S%#! Bar” on the ocean . Then was able open up the four barrel down the canal…45 mph on the gps.
    All is working fine as wine !
    I replaced the two helm chairs with hi/low butt seats .
    Way more functional with this boat.
    You have to stand 70% of the time.
    Nice to raise the seat and rest your rump while cruising.

    Yes it’s working just fine boat started right up after sitting for six months or so. No smoke no hesitation no hiccups.


    thanks for your help with the fuel leak on the big boat seems like it was combination of the fuel pump and the old dried out fuel lines .

    Boat came with from previous owner, Michigan dynajet 13'' x 12'' three blade no cup gave me 5200 rpm wot. That was two much rpm should be no more than 5000 for my motor which is carbureted 350 Crusader.
    I'm now running for the past two years an Acme part #1609 13'' x 11.50 '' left three blade .060 cup. @ 4600 rpm wot. A little over propped , but I like the lower end of the rpm scale of my motor, min. is 4400 rpm wot.
    My boat has little junk on it keeping the weight down. She weights with full fuel about 3600 lbs.

    I recall a Borg 71c. Back when I worked on them (40 years ago), dam cheap to fix.
    I can assume (Hope) things are the same.
    Shop new clutches; sometimes cheaper than rebuild.

    Yes it is. First time that I’ve had to use it.
    And my anchor…on this boat.
    Never use it.
    But I pulled it out from the hatch quickly, swift current and boats galore on the CM canal.
    Was anchored in less than a minute.

    Towboat and Captain were very good and quick.

    Going to tackle the trans removal myself. Velvet drive in line 71c
    1071 ; 1:1 ratio.

    going to get it rebuilt or do an exchange rebuilt unit . Looking into the Harkers Island place?
    Any good local Recommendations in New Jersey ,Delaware or Pennsylvania?

    Guess I’ll change out the rusty drive damper and rusty flywheel too while I’m into it?

    CR as you know I suffer from pre-mature evaluation! I’ve been thinking things over before I tackle the boat this weekend I’ve had zero transmission problems no slipping no leaking of oil no overheating shifts in and out of gear beautifully… how could the transmission all of a sudden just let go like the propeller fell off the end of the shaft?
    I’m thinking if that round damper plate that the transmission slides into with the four or five spring things going around the plate .
    I know that’s very rusty if you recall this boat was wicking salt water up into the fly wheel when the bilge get some water in it.
    The pan and the transmission sits about 2 inches or so of the bottom of the boat.

    anyway I’m hoping it’s just the damper plate that broke there was a strange grinding sound within the bell housing and the transmission, after it let go.
