Is their a source for the teak rings on the inside of the stern line hawse pipes? Or do I need to fire up my brother in-laws wood shop and manufacture new ones myself? One of mine is split and has a short section missing, naturally the one I use for my home dock tie-up. Thanks
Yep. I used used starboard as a spacer on the inside. I replaced all mine with larger hawsers with polished stainless from Algonquin. Power cord can go through if you want and they look great.
I'll have to decide if i want to make one in teak or all in something else. Either way i want to cut the metal part flush to the inside surface so the inner piece is flush to the fiberglass. The other 3 look like they fit better so the one may not be a factory job. None of the screw holes were remotely straight either. thanks
Interesting that you sat that. Mine are B.A. also as they all are I think but mine are flush with the inner wall of the cockpit. No cutting needed. Maybe you could get starboard thick enough that you could route the starboard and not cut the hawse pipe to make up the difference.
Another project to add to my list. The line creak on my original teak trims is soooo loud. Even with a heavy duty snubber.
I want to retain the teak, but I'm having trouble finding wide enough teak planks to make a new one from. Everything I can find is 4" stock, but the existing rings are 4-1/4 x 6-1/4".
I asked the same question on the other site and was told to contact South Jersey lumbermans who is in Mays landing N.J. I'm thinking he may have made the originals but thats just a guess .
I spoke with him and he doesn't have any info on making them, but does have the teak for a blank to make one myself.
Thanks. No paint. I believe you are correct, Starboard will not hold paint. The Seafoam color is a perfect match to my gelcoat. I made antennae bases, backing plates, and access doors from it. Blends right in.
They should be they came from Post when they were in Mays Landing. They are 1" thick solid teak so you may need to plane them to the proper thickness to match yours. Hole opening is roughly 4"x2".
