Given the tremendous success of the 65 and now the 85 was wondering if any owners are on this board ?

Current owner of 65' Pacific Mariner. I would like to discuss specific issues regarding Pacific Mariners. Anyone on this site currently owning a PM?

We have an 85 and very familiar with a 65. Would have likely bought a 65 too if not discontinued so soon. Even thought of getting a custom build based on the 65. There are still no other boats we've found in their ranges that compare overall for our needs. On the 85 at this moment, just for a day cruise to Key Largo and around and back home.

On the 85 we have cruised from Portland, OR to Seward, AK, from New Orleans to Boston, and all around the Bahamas, plus everywhere in between those locations.

65' was in our mind the perfect boat for the Great Loop. Wasn't happy when they were discontinued and even less happy when the 85' was.

I purchased a 2002 Pacific Mariner in 2017 and have cruised from Chesapeake Bay to the Bahamas and back and love the boat.
Would be happy to talk with you at any time.

I was just introduced to the pacific mariner 65 by a broker and would love to understand the quality and perception of what this boat is like. I have been considering variance hatteras cockpit motor yachts specifically the 2000 or newer 63 and 64 footers. I want to be closer to 500k vs 1 million so the broker recommended the PM65.

I like Cat power and fish lightly and dive but will spend most of the time cruising east coast, gulf and some islands.

Capj is steering me away from offshore and Marlow and he seems to be very knowledgeable. Just want to make sure PM isn’t a niche brand with poor quality and Performance that cant be resold when I move up.

Pacific Mariner is a top quality boat designed to perform at decent speeds and provide comfort. Think miniature Westport as Jack Edson, son or Orin Edson actually founded Pacific Mariner and subsequently when Orin bought Westport, they were merged.

The PM65 is a bit dated style wise but I wish it was still built as I do the 85. We do own an 85.

Most I've seen have come with MTU power and 60 series (or predecessor Detroit Diesel) which have been relatively trouble free and quieter than comparable CAT.

They are William Garden designed and most cruise at 20+ knots.

Top quality boats. Every owner I've come across loves them.

The Pacific Mariner brand was produced by the owners son of Westport at the time and features the same quality as found in Westport generally. I find the 65' to be dated styling wise, but styling is up to the buyer.

How is it that a PM 65 is listing for $600-900K and the PM85 is listing for $4Mil. I get that the 85 may be a newer build but is it really worth that much more? I know, it is worth what someone pays for it. Good for the PM85 owners.

While never attracted to the lines, I can see the appeal of the layout, fit and finish, engine room and design. Well done.

A lot of difference between 15 to 20 year old 65's and 7 or 8 year old 85's. Price new was three times that of the 65 new.

The utility of both the 65 and the 85 is unrivaled.

Was Pacific Mariner a separate operation and facility from Westport? I don't quite get the connection, I certainly see the resemblance.

Significant difference in size between the 65 and the 85, both length and beam. A 65 could be single- handed by a competent skipper, but not the 85. It’s almost like comparing a doll house to a real house. No wonder that the prices are so different.

Eventually Westport took it over, although there was a family connection to start; at least that’s what I was told by a Westport rep.
