    DELETE Facebook!
As responsible members of the internet community, we feel the need to help our members protect their interests and personal information. Many of you may have heard the news that Facebook has been secretly collecting private and personal information through users mobile phones. Facebook has been collecting call logs and text logs from some user phones, then selling that information to 3rd parties who “target” both you and your contacts.

Elon Musk has deleted the Facebook pages for Tesla and SpaceX. Following in his footsteps, we have deleted the Facebook pages for YachtForums and JetForums. We hope others follow suit. This social media platform is...

    • Collecting metadata of your cellular calls and text messages you send and receive!
    • Mining and selling your personal information without your permission!
    • Micro-targeting you based on browsing interests to subliminally sway your opinion.
    • Assigning employees to help other nations influence the democratic process.
The information Facebook collects on you is sold off to 100's of companies and agencies, some not so benign. Think about this, one day your browsing interests, posts or even text messages could be used to deny healthcare, employment or acceptance into communities or schools. It's difficult to speculate how your information could be used, but behavioral pattern algorithms could target you, your friends or your family! And if you think the actions of your children or your friends on FB have no bearing on you, think again!

    What to do...

    1) The safest option is to DELETE Facebook, Facebook Lite, and Facebook Messenger from your devices. We have deleted the pages for both YachtForums and JetForums. We realize that not everyone will do this, so we offer these additional recommendations:

    2) Do NOT share your contact list with any app.

    3) Android phone users are particularly vulnerable due to the open nature of the architecture and cooperation from google.

    4) Check your Facebook account settings to delete your account. This is a complex and changing process because Facebook doesn't necessarily want you to know how to delete your account. They have all but hidden the link for deletion. See this page on cNet for directions on how to completely remove your account...

Not only deleting FB, but Yahoo as well. Today Yahoo issued a new TOS and it's not good for the consumer. Y is owned by Verizon.

So, Zuckerbergs statement to Congress that FB does NOT sell personal info is a lie, ( perjured testimony) ?? I am not a FB user and don't like it anyway.

The Boy King isn't under oath here, No sworn testimony. Although he's under a legal obligation to tell the truth and not lie to congress of course this not being sworn testimony tends to allow the truth to be bent or stretched. You don't think Mr. Zuckerberg would just waltz in to a congressional hearing and testify without pre negotiated terms do you? His presence had been requested three other times in the past to appear but the details couldn't be worked out and no congressional subpoena's were issued.

I believe he took the oath when testifying before the Senate and said the same denial.

Originally, the business model was based on serving up ads based on 'likes', but clearly the model evolved into selling information that is obtained by peering into the thoughts of each user. What started as a college popularity contest has evolved into the ultimate surveillance system!

Here's the Orwellian part... proprietary information sent via text messages was intercepted and recorded by Facebook - for years - essentially giving FB and the companies that buy this information the kind of insight that could cripple companies, predict markets, sway elections and bankrupt economies.

If a business asks you to like them on Facebook, don’t do business with them!!!

My concern is that if he lies to the Senate and Congress and there is proof that he did lie why is there not an outcry about that ?
If my concerns have validity and FB gets away with it then the public has acquiesced to the events which indeed would not surprise me in the least.

Just how criminal is this organization? Even if you're not on Facebook...

Texting is the easiest way to communicate with family , friends and business without the flavor of social engineering from Facebook. No need for FB in my own circles.

Understood that everything sent over the digital airwaves can be listened to and recorded. Worked with a distributor in Mexico who was representing a German product that allowed the military (or whoever could purchase the product given the applicable trade laws) to set up digital listening devices, even on a street corner or busy intersection. Has a specific range and custom filters that would take large amounts of digital data and filter off of key words and different languages.

NSA is not the only agency listening to our digital word, a fact to live with forever.

As long as we maintain the "innocent until proven guilty" belief, NSA does not worry me, FB, Twitter and Google are a bigger threat to real privacy and protection of financial and free speech.

Every day that goes by, I feel more and more compelled to go analog. I never had FB, but I've cut down on other things. Ultimately I'd like to disconnect completely, but that's not feasible as long as one has a job (tsk, annoying).

Apple CEO takes aim at Silicon Valley data hoarders:
    'This is surveillance'

    https://www.nbcnews.com/business/bu...k-calls-comprehensive-privacy-law-u-s-n923786

"While Cook didn’t directly call out his Silicon Valley neighbors, Facebook and Google, it was clear whom he was referring to when he called out companies that hoard massive amounts of user data — which he said is then “weaponized against us with military efficiency.”
