Miracle Worker Really? Now that was a neat trick. BUt not nearly as neat as pulling a new pair of mags out of your back pocket together with some fine hurths to match, eh? Excellent work. Now about that flamepaint job,.... CHeers! -Eric (stillwaitingforelectriciantorewiremy12voltsystembelowdecks)
It was the flame job that sucked me in Actually found an alpha on cl for about 1/3 retail Really wanted 383 but it looked like shaft replacement too Turns out the alpha being a little detuned compared to the bravo matches the 427 hp as discussed in previous threads Higher rpm of course and less torque but opportunity knocked and had to open the door
Re still waiting on elect etc Me too It a job i have handed to the yard Excellent guys at eagle marine in martinez ca I am getting the bellhousing flywheel damper and mounts in order Yard working on some trailer mods and electrical before engine goes in Going with triple batt setup on each side Actually each engine isolated Shore power and inverter on one circuit Generator on opposite Should be able to post trailer progress next week Currently watching my AZ wildcats and UCLA and enjoying adult beverages Surfing roamers during commercials on the iphone
I would install a seperate battery charger as well. With the charger/inverters if you lose shorepower and the batteries get below a certain voltage (21 volts on a 24 volt bank) the inverter/charger will usually not power on to charge the batteries.
Overkill or uber alles? Hmmm,..., Edison would be proud, only it kinda (from here) sounds like alot. My marine electrician (Clean Marine), and I use that term sparingly, recommended some Odessey high performance drycell AGM batteries. Odyssey Batteries "The Odyssey battery ingeniously uses absorbed glass mat (AGM battery) technology to offer, in one box, the characteristics of two separate batteries. It can deep cycle as well as provide enormous cranking power."These aint cheap, only he sayz we just need one for each motor (PC2150S) and a slightly bigger one for the house. Thatz a grand for three batteries, sheesh! He has them in his boat and claims miraculous performance, just like the sales brochure: "ODYSSEY batteries have an 8-12 year design life and a 3-10 year service life. Welded internal cells enable it to withstand extreme vibration, and AGM design holds acid in place to prevent spills, even when installed on its side. And unlike conventional batteries, ODYSSEY batteries can be stored for up to 2 years and still be returned to full power." Am relly (relly) sick and tired of having the boat fail the "7/11 test" (park/walk-in/buy beer/leave/start motor(or not); and having to replace (read lift out of engine room) every 2-3 years. "No adding water, ever, no venting of acid gas, holds a charge longer, recharges much quicker, better warranty, no prorating with Odyssey, service life of 7-8 years......"Some reviews: Odyssey battery Batteries | Compare Reviews and Trusted Advice from Battery Experts Best Marine Batteries ?? - The Hull Truth - Boating and Fishing Forum https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLR4mlEnI7ztlpkRMiSmm8c3K4nqXf85Gk We'll see.
