    Never thought of Cedar. My friends who work over at the Sea Ray plants told me they can get me all the fake stuff I want. Oops, shouldn't have said that. I have some time to explore my options. Your boat is really looking good. I've been following your threads. My grandfather was a ship builder from Oslo.

    Good fake teak, especially at those prices, is not to be sneezed at. :rolleyes:
    It cost me quite a bit for materials alone for my "new" Tek Dek aft cockpit.
    That and installation. But have said all this before (and posted photos of install/finished product) here:

    Not a task for the weekend warrior I'm afraid. :eek:
    Cannot imagine what installing real teak would be like.

    Hello!
    I've built a relaxation and sauna and on the walls I put up a fine Canadian cedar wood that is easy and quite similar to teak that can withstand moisture addition, I believe that it is cheaper and better looking than teak.tank you for that I'm completely sold of our ladies, I hope to get her into the lake about three weeks a little late but that's life

    Commander Transom Door Refit

    Know that itz not metal, but here's how they outfitted a 35' CC Commandero with a new transom door. Lots to be learned from studying the extensive photos here:

    Thanks for the post Eric. I'll keep ol' Copy Cat the was she is. I think the transom door would make my life easier but I just can't cut into her hull. It don't seem natural. Besides, my wife has been wanting me to sell her and buy a bigger boat. I think she's crazy but what else is new. I really want to do the teak project and I've been studing your post. I plan on going to the Miami boat show next February and see if there's anythng new out there and start next spring. It's summer and I've been taking time off work to get the "Honey Doos" out of the way so I can have the weekends for the boat. After summer is fall and I plan on taking her to several football games. Who knows, maybe we'll win a few this year. I just like the boat ride. Thanks again.
