Aicon Yachts, with its head office in Giammoro, has been working for more than fifteen years in the field of interior furnishings, and in particular, in naval and motor yacht outfitting (in wood, metal and composed materials). At present, Aicon employs 80 personnel, each with acquired experience, and extensive relationships established with skilled operators in the yacht building industry. They enjoy a competitive advantage that is derived from being located in Sicily, where yacht building has undertaken an important shift in development toward the construction of luxury motoryachts (from 14 to 35 meters). They expect to grow to over 250 employees over the next four years, with sales approaching 100 billion (Italian lire). As of December, 1st 2005, Mr. Julian B. Gould, currently CEO of Swatch Group Italy as well as Senior Vice President of Sales Worldwide for some of the most important brands of that group, will become part of Aicon Yachts top management team as he is appointed CEO of Aicon Yachts Europe and Sales Director of Aicon SpA, the holding company of the Aicon group. With the introduction of Mr. Gould in its top management team, Aicon Yachts testifies its commitment to building a strong management infrastructure that is capable of leading the company along the fast growth path it has been increasingly experienced in the past few years. The Aicon shipyard is based in the industrial area of Giammoro, about 200 meters from the water. Aicon’s production facilities cover approx. 39,000 square feet, with 14,00 under cover. The facilities house all fiberglass, stainless and joinery, along with the machinery and technology for processing timber and metal. CAD-CAM systems are used in the production of Aicon’s line of yachts. To accommodate Aicon’s growing line-up, they have acquired a well-known maintenance shipyard in Augusta for the production of semi-displacement yachts ranging from 100 to 130 feet. And in March of 2005, the Villafranca Tirrena site will host production of the new open series yachts. Aicon’s Fly series yachts range from 54 to 85 feet in length and their open series ranges from 62 to 72 feet. Aicon is known for producing cutting-edge, Euro-style yachts, but their quality and performance have become their most recognized value.
A gleaming, precious new flagship, Aicon’s 85 Fly is its grandest yet; a brand new, bella-elegante holiday yacht just introduced to compete in the ever- growing mid-size yacht market. The Sicilian-Italian builder also features seven other sizes: the Open series from 62 to 82, and its Flybridge series from 54 to 75. Its two production bases: the Flybridge series built in Italy’s historic Giamorro; the Open series built in Villafranca Tirrena, a few miles east. Both open to the Mediterranean through the Tyrrhenian Sea and/or the Strait of Messina, at the toe of Italy’s boot on the northeast coast of Sicily. Its 300,000 sq.ft. production facility in Giamorro now has in-house equipment for the production of wooden furnishings and steel components for construction of its 54 and 64 motoryachts, and plans to invest $3.7 million in this yard alone. Yet its development plans call for further investment of $15.9 million, centering on this and other production facilities in Villafranca, plus an additional yard in Augusta-Siracusa for larger yachts – 100 and 130-ft. From its Giamorro headquarters, its staff is focused on customer service; with specialty headquarters in the Sicilian ports of Messina and Palermo, near the center of the Mediterranean’s key ports.
This is the Aicon Navetta 110 motoryacht. It has a length of 33.43-meters, 7.60-meter BOA and 1.70-meters draft. Twin CAT C32 ACERT engines with just over 2,300 horse power combined output push this 110-foot yacht to a top speed of 18-knots.
