Like a Klingon Warship uncloaking itself to strike, Feadship debuted a radical new concept at the Monaco Yacht Show… the 241’ “X-Stream”. A drastic departure in design, this axe-bow boat with a see-thru superstructure is as extreme as the name implies.
A future Feadship of sorts, the model is presented as a conceptual look at a possible course to plot for the renowned Dutch builder...

Fairline Boats debuted the new Squadron 68, a larger version of the Squadron 66, at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show on October 25th, 2006. The new 68' boasts a revised design, increased accommodations and truly up-to-date elements.
One of the most notable attributes of the new 68' is a completely open floor plan with virtually no separation between salon, galley and pilothouse. Taking cues from modern home design, Fairline is using freestanding sofas, chairs & tables that can moved about as desired. This arrangement results in the feel of greater interior volume, plus it can be easily customized as the yacht changes ownership.
Taking modern design to the next step, the helm and instrument panel appear to be a study in automotive ergonomics. Unlike traditional marine and Euro-style helms that have become so common, Fairline has created a truly contemporary helm mixing wood & brushed aluminum panels in a thoroughly modern mix...

Rolls-Royce Introduces Revolutionary Retractable Stabilizers
The Best of Both Worlds!
Rolls-Royce is developing a new concept that significantly reduces the roll of a motor yacht when stationary by increasing the effectiveness of the folding fin stabilizers normally used for underway stabilization. The system uses a different fin profile and an advanced control system that keeps the fins ‘active’ when stationary, maximizing their effect in reducing ship motion. Scale model tests carried out at the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN) in Wageningen December 2005 on a large motor yacht have proven the effectiveness of the design concept...
Hatteras Introduces New 72 Motor Yacht
New Design Features Traditional Lines, Resin-Infused Hull
New Design Features Traditional Lines, Resin-Infused Hull
NEW BERN, N.C., Sept. 20, 2006 – The new 72 Motor Yacht from Hatteras Yachts features traditional exterior lines with subtle contemporary styling cues for an overall effect that fits into today’s marketplace while easily standing the test of time. This unique model features a wider salon than comparable motor yachts on the market, yet it still retains side-deck access that makes the 72 Motor Yacht perfect for the owner/operator.
CONSTRUCTION:
Built in Hatteras’ main facility in New Bern, N.C., the 72 Motor Yacht features a resin-infused hull, rather than one built up of layers of hand-laid fiberglass. The automated resin-infusion process produces a more uniform hull thickness from one hull to the next, as well as the most ideal glass-to-resin ratio...

Identified as one of the most respected names in worldwide yachting, Heesen has become a proven leader in concept, style, and execution... with 129 yachts delivered since 1978. Their latest launch, Sirocco, adheres to that repute and delivers yet another stunning example of Heesen’s craftsmanship.

Third Amnesia being built at Benetti
The Benetti shipyard is on schedule to launch AMNESIA; a new 60m motor yacht currently in build at the Livorno facility. Amnesia is the third mega-yacht built for the same yacht owner, Mr Graham de Zille. Mindful of the success of her predecessors, the third Amnesia has progressed her interior and exterior styling without loosing sight of her heritage and pedigree.
“Building a yacht with Benetti is easy. – Mr de Zille explained – The shipyard has always kept up with the production schedule due to the fact we ensure the design and engineering are correct before we start and they never disappoint my expectations for quality. When you build a yacht with the Benetti team, you also share with them the pleasure and passion inborn in ship building...
Quantum Marine Engineering Introduces Extendable Fin Stabilizers...
the XT™ Fin.
the XT™ Fin.
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida - August 8, 2006 - Quantum Stabilizers, Inc. of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida introduces its latest innovation in Zero Speed™ system refinement. The new, patented XT™ fin series has been designed to overcome a number of challenges in fitting these dual purpose systems to larger vessels. The modern “ultra yacht” designs are calling for higher volume hull forms which are not always conducive to fitting the stabilizer fin area required for stabilizing ships at rest (zero speed). Additionally, most of these super sized vessels have designed service speeds in excess of 20 knots which dictates that appendage drag be minimized as much as possible.
The XT™ fins are designed to reduce the fin footprint by having extending foils that are only deployed for stabilizing the vessel at anchor...
To Russia With Love!
New Mulder 68 Convertible delivered
After delivering a Mulder 63 Wheelhouse to a Russian owner earlier this year, Mulder Shipyard recently finished a Mulder 68 Convertible for another Russian client. The new yacht, which is 20.70 metres long, will be berthed in Saint Petersburg.
While Mulder Shipyard had already built a number of yachts in the 68 Convertible range, this latest launch is unique in a number of ways. Most importantly, it is 50 cm wider and 60 cm longer than its predecessors, allowing significantly more interior space. In addition, the modern interior is finished in an original arrangement of cherrywood and avant-garde colours chosen in close cooperation with the owner. Its classy retro lines give the new 68 an extremely modern look, similar to that of other Mulder Convertibles...

NORDHAVN 75 Expedition Yachtfish!
Designed to Fish, Dive and Explore the World.
Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE) announces it is about to begin construction of its first yacht designed specifically for offshore fishing and diving expeditions. True to its oceangoing pedigree, the new Nordhavn 75 Expedition Yachtfisher (EYF) has a range of up to 4,000 miles and is equipped to be self-sustaining for extended stays in remote parts of the world.

Viareggio, June 2006...
Perini Navi is thrilled and proud to announce that on Wednesday June 7th, the 88m Clipper Yacht “Maltese Falcon” successfully completed her first sail trial on the Bosphorus sea, with an off shore breeze that gradually increased from 8 to 16 knots.
“The Maltese Falcon has written a new page in the history of yachting, the DynaRig is no longer an experimental concept” is the Owner’s first comment to this stunning success. “Everything worked as engineered and the yacht achieved some remarkable numbers: hard on the wind in 15.8 knots true, at 38 degrees relative wind angle, we sailed with no fuss or strain at 10.5 knots. On a close reach at 60 degrees relative angle, the speed (still at knots 16 true wind) climbed to 14 knots...

OCEA has Two New Commuters Under Construction
The OCEA Commuter 108 is a motor-yacht proposed on a semi-custom basis, designed by the naval architect office JOUBERT-NIVELT, and built by OCEA shipyard.
The general arrangement plans of the two OCEA Commuter 108 currently under construction show numerous differences in comparison to the plan of M/Y ABELY WHEELER, first one of the series. The naval architect has studied these modifications in order to suit the specific requests of the future yacht owners. Although programmed to navigate mainly in the Mediterranean Sea, these two yachts are well thought-out like M/Y ABELY WHEELER for round the world navigations.
OCEA Commuter 108 - N°2: (delivery date: April 2007)
- The tenders’ area has been moved from the upper deck to the fore deck. This modification allows freeing completely the sun deck while lowering the centre of gravity of the vessel...
