Elie Saab in collaboration with Weyves Couture and Oceanco unveiled the first of three megayachts to be designed by the Lebanese designer – the ES117 – at a high-profile launch event at the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show 2010 on February 25. The magnificent 117m (384.78ft) megayacht is as impressive in its dimensions as the refinement of its design, characterized by its high ceiling, an innovation that Saab exclusively introduced to the yacht industry, and is the culmination of the efforts of an ensemble of extraordinarily creative individuals brought together under the Weyves Couture Concept.

Heesen launches 50-meter "SKY"
Heesen Yachts is proud to announce that, hull number 14750, a 50 meter full-displacement motor yacht, was launched from the shipyard in Oss in the presence of her owners, who christened her "SKY". SKY is a fully customized 50 metre motor yacht of over 500GT (approx. 650GT), whose naval architecture has been conceived by Heesen’s in-house naval architects, while the exterior styling was drawn by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects.
The yacht’s contemporary and masculine interior, decorated predominantly with Makassar cabinetry and featuring carbon-fibre and stainless steel detailing, was designed by the New York-based interior designers Mojo-Stumer Associates. This new building contract is even more special for the Company since the client is Frans Heesen, former owner and founder of the shipyard who comments: “I am delighted to start the new year by announcing the contract for my own new boat, which my wife and I signed some days ago! Hanseatic Marine delivers 73.3-meter "SilVer Zwei"
In September 2009, Australian yard, Hanseatic Marine delivered the second hull in the "SilVer" series called "SilVer Zwei". The vessel was built under a cloak of secrecy and even her delivery was hushed to some extent. Built under the project name "Fangio", the 73.3-meter yacht was later delivered and made her way to Dubai.
After delivery, the vessel was showcased at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix along with her sister the "Rabdan" (ex. "SilVer"). There is a third hull in build at the moment measuring 78-meters. Her name will be "Smeralda" due to launch some time in 2011...

Heesen delivers 47-meter "4YOU"
Following intensive sea trials in the North Sea Heesen Yachts is proud to announce that the delivery of "4YOU" has now taken place. This 47-metre is a sister-ship of hull number 12947, M/Y "Sirocco", (launched in 2006) and hull number 14247, M/Y "Celestial Hope" (launched in 2008). Her interior design was conceived by Omega Architects, who created a fresh contemporary style rich yet understated with clean lines and luxurious details.
Guests arriving on the main deck aft are welcomed into the vast main saloon, passing first through an art-embellished lobby. This leads on into a social area furnished with coffee tables, armchairs and pouffes where an eight-seater table, custom made from American walnut and topped with leather, is inlaid with intricate patterns of matt silver...
Horizon Yachts launch Premier 130 "Antithesis"
The Horizon Group started out the new year with the launch of its fifth Premier 130, “Antithesis”. Even given the current economic climate, the “Antithesis” production process went smoothly and completed on schedule. Her new US owner and family were very happy to receive their New Year’s gift.
Under the supervision of Captain Fergy, project manager for the past 2 years, the “Antithesis” was launched at the Horizon Delivery center during the early morning of Dec 19. The launch took approximately 3 hours to complete, using Horizon’s special design hydraulic lifting barge “On Dream”.
The vessel, equipped with twin MTU 8V4000M70 heavy-duty engines capable of 1,500 BHP each, is built for extreme long range cruising at a comfortable 14 knots of maximum speed. Full DNV +1A1 LC R1 Yacht certificate and MCA LY2 compliance remain standard...
Alloy Yachts launch 58.4-meter "Kokomo"
Alloy Yachts in New Zealand have launched their largest yacht to date. The 58.4-meter "Kokomo" was launched nearing the end of 2009. The large sloop-rigged yacht also represents the largest build for other associated companies and contractors involved in the said build.
"At 08:00 on December 16th, the owner’s christened their new 58.4m KOKOMO, designed by Dubois with a contemporary interior by Redman Whiteley Dixon, all beautifully built by Alloy Yachts International in New Zealand. Peter Wilson said "It was very exciting to see this, our largest yacht to date, roll gracefully down the slipway and be launched in Henderson and to then make her way to the deeper waters on the Auckland waterfront for commissioning."
Not only is this the largest for MCM to date, but also for Dubois NA, Alloy Yachts International, Southern Spars and Doyle Sails - lots of firsts here...
Horizon Yachts launches 'Elegance 88'
Horizon Group recently has completed a successful sea trial of the new premium Horizon Elegance 88. During the sea trial, where all systems were thoroughly tested, the Elegance 88 reached top speeds around 23 knots at its full load. The results of the trial were very impressive, and the vessel’s performance was beyond expectation.
While retaining the familiar resemblance to other models in the Elegance series, designer, John H.V. Lindblom, added a contemporary touch to its look, while balancing the modern seaworthy hull and its sleek superstructure. In order to cater to the taste of the Australian Market, Horizon Group has collaborated with the renowned New Zealand design firm, Harrison Interiors.

Yachting Developments launches "Bliss"
"Bliss" is a 121-foot sloop under construction by New Zealand composite mega yacht builder Yachting Developments. Just recently, the said builder launched their latest yacht. YD67 built to a design by Dubois Naval Architects with project management by Guy Waddilove.
The composite yacht has been built to specification featuring a water-line length of 105.6-feet. A generous 27.4-foot overall gives Bliss a spacious atmosphere for her size. On the other hand, there is a 13-foot draft.
On the inside, the design was envisioned by Design Unlimited featuring a well balanced theme. This called for dark tones for the floor finish with contrasting light neutral tones for the walls and ceilings throughout. With Bliss launched, time to her delivery will be short...
