Rene van der Velden 110' Plumb Bow Yacht
Desirable concept promises economic construction and operation
This snug, boldly handsome all-weather cruiser is ideal for today’s economy-minded families. She was conceived to assure fun, pleasure, and low building and running costs. She is based on a less-costly steel hull, with each living space made as versatile as possible, and without cumbersome features and over-sophisticated technology that savvy owners find unnecessary and expensive. With longitudinal framing, the steel hull is relatively inexpensive to build and maintain, and is easily repaired anywhere, even in low-tech facilities. The superstructure can be aluminum or composite, depending on builder’s or client’s preference and, like the interior styling, can be customized to suit your needs and taste. The hull is shaped for comfortable speeds up to 18 knots...

A few days after the launch of the first Classic Supreme 132’, last Wednesday, 16th May, the curtains were raised on a Classic 121’. The 121’ is the crowning jewel of the Benetti Class range, featuring six models constructed in composite materials and ranging from 93’ to 145’ in length, all built at the historic Benetti boatyards in Viareggio. Progress on Moonen 42-meter "Sofia" superyacht
Construction on the new "Sofia" is going well and quickly. It shouldn't be in the too distant memory that the owner wanted the Moonen flagship to be even larger with a four-foot extension to the stern area over the initial LOA. The difference in length at the stern was to allow storage of a three-person U-boatworx submarine. Sea trials on the submarine will begin in Malta in mid-May while back in Holland the dedicated launch crane is being pre-assembled and tested before final installation onboard the yacht.
Two of the suites are nearly complete giving a better idea of the Art-Line interior concept. Meanwhile, the entertainment system is being engineered and installed, increasing in sophistication all the time to include a full Kaleidoscope video server with Samsung Smart LED TVs and multi-room control (including lighting, blinds and climate control) via i-Pad...

The Topaz project was transferred from the yard to the floating dry dock in May 2011 to be fitted out. It was this same dry dock that she sailed out of today.
