    Hello!
I am looking at a 1997 Post 47 but have a question before moving forward with the process. I am aware of moisture issues with the fore deck and cockpit, but has anyone had experience with moisture in the cockpit overhang on the aft end of the cabin/house?
    Thanks!

Hi, Mine is much older than yours and had the wood trim and wood " gutters " on the aft overhang.
It did have a water intrusion issue in a big way but the wood trim was the big culprit for me.

Looks like the '97 only has hand rail stanchions and the helm chairs that might allow water in.
If it has an entire enclosure you may be good.
The handrails on the side of the aft most cabin are a possible place to look though

If the owner would allow you to maybe remove a screw or two from the stanchions, that would be telling but unlikely.

Is this 47 in Chicago ? just curious...

I would tell you more but my boat is so much older than yours that it's probably not relevant.
A surveyor will be able to tell you way more that me, from here, in my little hovel.

    Good luck with it.
In any event, please get back to us & let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks for the reply & yes, it is the Chicago Post!
I'm not sure if the age matters as they have remained generally consistent in form over the years.
Were you able to dry yours out?
Not sure if there is water there on this one, but I know the nose is wet based on the sellers previous survey.
Boats been sitting a long time too, so many other areas of concern before we commit.
Heading down Monday to have a look.
    Thanks!

To say we dried it out is an understatement.
It was all replaced with Coosa board
I did not want to scare you with that info but, again, mine is much older and had lots of wood trim that was the main culprit.
Some of them had a leak problem with the helm chair too.
It depends on the enclosure type, if any, and prior maintenance.
When you have it surveyed the truth will come out, I am sure.
