    Sorry for this simple question but I need to confirm something and I do not have my manual. When checking the fluid level on a ZF 80A transmission, do you screw in the dip stick or just set it on top pf the threads with out screwing it in?

    the manual says run the engine to make sure the coolers are full of fluid. shut down. within a couple of minutes check the level with dip screwed in.
    this insures the dip is at the correct angle.
