We normally don't cover sailing yachts, but ATHENA is one of the most spectacular builds of ALL time. She is truly a magnificent yacht.

I'm not sure how much editorial we're going to do on this because there are a massive number of pictures. I've already spent 6 hours formatting over 100 images of ATHENA. Before I start the upload, I'm wondering...

    Who wants to see ATHENA?

You should! It's hard to find decent coverage of the higher-end sailers... stuff like Alloy, Perinni, Wally, etc... are all amazing builds. Getting to see an in-depth photo-series of that Wally 143 (under construction) would be absolutely "wow!" :D

ANY sailboat with at least 2 sticks is a "yacht" in my book :) :) :)

I am probably the only one, but I prefer photocoverage to be on just one page. I would rather make a new thread for each page if there are more pictures of interest and name them after content, like Athena Exterior/Decks, Athena Owner/Guest areas, Athena Bridge/crew areas/ engineroom. Or along those lines to facilitate going back for a certain picture...

Maybe creates too many threads, but certainly easier to navigate. Another trick would be to have a content index posted first?

And Yes, I love to see more of Athena!

    So world's biggest Mirabella V is not a contender then ? :D

In my opinion any sail-yacht offering space and luxury comparable to a 100ft'r or more should be considered. The technical innovation and crative design-idea's required on sailing-yachts is much higher then on a motor-yacht in order to offer similar or comparable levels of space and luxury.

Show us those pictures, you absoultely have my vote in favor..

So being able to land a heli on Tiara doesn't qualify her? ;)

But all you had to do was cut a hole in the deck, sit in the hole, call it a sunfish and you ruled the seas. :D

OK... I've got the pics done. Seems like it took 12 hours. I'll get started on the editorial tomorrow. Problem is... editorial for 75 pictures would be a book! Hopefully the old addage "a picture is worth a thousand words" will apply. ;)

I personally would like to see more sailing yachts, after all acording to the Oxford dictonary a yacht is a vessel used for pleasure.

OK... I've finished about 7 pages of editorial. Still, I've got a lot more to do. 7 pages hardly covers 70 pictures! I kind of doubt Huisman will ever become a site supporter, so ... one of you guys owes me a drink at FLIBS! :D

Of the 200+ pictures supplied, I widdled Athena down to 70 pictures. Today, I found out that 10 of them are not owned by Royal Huisman and if we use them, it will be costly. So... a few detail shots will be missing. :(

Still, we've got nearly 60 excellent pictures, many of them never published before. A few less pics is actually good... it reduces the amount of editorial! ;)

Need a couple more days on this. Hang in there... :)

Maybe I should set up a link that only our regular members can see. Who knows, maybe THAT will motivate a few lurkers to join in! :D
