used 2002 48 Ocean

    I am looking at a used 48. Would use it to cruise the Chesapeake Bay. Light fishing only.

    How comfortable is this boat for a family of 5 to weekend on?

    How loud are the engines while cruising in salon and on flybridge?

    Ocean 48

    I did a delivery of a 48 Ocean from Connecticut to St Petersberg, Fl and return a number of years ago, around 1,700 miles each way.

    The boat is fast with the typical Jersey hull design with a fairly flat running surface aft, it needs less horsepower than a deep V like a Bertram.

    In the Chesapeake, since you often get a heavy chop when the wind is blowing against the current, the ride into the chop will not be as comfortable as a deep V boat, but since many distances are short, you can just slow down.

    I would say it would be a great boat for the Bay, and they sure are pretty. Ocean has done a superb job on interior design to appeal the the fisherman's wife, smart move....
