It doesn't happen very often, but two yachts we're launched by Lurssen on the same day, heading in the same direction. Lürssen Yachts "Queen M" and "Phoenix" celebrate the same birthdays. They're not identical twins and they will ultimately be seperated at "berth", but these siblings share the same DNA that has been the molecular structure behind several of the most spectacular yachts in the world.

Queen M (72m) and Phoenix (61m) caused quite a commotion when the two brand new yachts cruised into Oslo. They docked together early in the morning at Akerbrügge, along the Oslo waterfront. The following day, they went out into the fjord for a short cruise and photo opps. The two siblings will be sailing in different directions from here. Queen M will cruise in Northern Europe and Phoenix will cruise in the Mediterranean.

Queen M is a 238’ motor yacht built by Lurssen for a very experienced yacht owner who wanted to fulfill his own ideas about a yacht for his family as well as a succesful charter yacht. Contemporary lines and a stylish decor are the attributes of this modern day megayacht. Designed by Espen Oeino with a maximum beam of 44’, she features six decks and boasts numerous areas for guests – making her an ideal yacht for private use or charter.

Guests have six spacious double cabins at their disposal on the main deck, which also includes the formal dining area as well as the salon. Two further single guest cabins are located on the lower deck. The bridge deck hosts the wheelhouse, the captain’s cabin and office, as well as the sky lounge with a bar, piano and outside dining. The owner’s stateroom has a private deck for sunbathing and a Jacuzzi. The interiors are designed by Donald Starkey and characterized by a perfect blend of classic and modern with a light oriental touch.

Outside, the sun deck is spacious with a protected outside guest gym and sun bathing areas. All of the outer deck areas, including the side passageways, provide generous leeway for passengers and crew to move about.

Built to MCA regulations and powered by two MTU engines of 2.320 kW each, Queen M will reach a top speed of 18 knots and has a range of 5,000 nm. Specifications will follow upon receipt...

The 201' Lurssen Phoenix features a main-deck master suite, complete with a floating staircase to the upper deck study that offers panoramic views and a private owners foredeck. There are five queen-sized guest cabins, each with their own decorative scheme, marble bathrooms and flat screen TV systems.

Andrew Winch gave Phoenix a pedigreed exterior design with an interior reflecting the art deco era. With five decks plus the flybridge, Phoenix offers plenty of space for entertainment and cruising in comfort. However, when the anchor drops, the in-water entertainment takes over. Just look at this equipment list...

For exploration above and below the surface, she features a 7m custom built tender, an 8m custom built sport tender with ski pole, fish finder, GPS chart plotter, dive platform, and enough room to carry six fully equipped divers. Also included are 2 Nautilus cascade dive tank systems with air storage capacity to keep you submerged for days. For short dives, there are 10 sets of professional grade diving equipment, including 4 underwater scooters for guests that are too lazy to kick a flipper. For diver safety - Phoenix has a professionally operated decompression chamber.

Equipped with Zero-Speed stabilizers by Quantum, Phoenix boasts a range of 5000 nautical miles in complete comfort. With her extensive underwater diving equipment list, she's a modern day "Calypso". :)
