Lost a 200hp Mercury outboard that had been securely bolted to a balsa core transom after an exceptionally good sportfish wake jump. Motor was dangling by the shifter cables afterwards. Good times!

Almost lost the 14' Nuvourania CC on our bow. We stuffed the bow one day, the wall of water ripped the straps in half and the boat almost went over the side. I didn't know I could turn that Viking that fast. It was the only thing that stopped it from going over the side. Won't say how much it cost to make everything right again.

I lost my elder brother over the side once. I was skippering a 30' racing yacht and I asked him to lean on the boom on a down-wind leg. A sudden wind shift came down the cliffside and blew the mainsail right across the boat.

It fired him about 20ft straight out to sea. Dropping the spinnaker and turning the boat around to pick him up, he had already swum halfway to the beach. He just shouted back "Forget it, I'm walking home" and he did.

Original job was Underwood and Remington adding machines, NCR and Burroughs( sp? )bookkeeping machines. Gears, levers and springs, all mechanical.

I need to bring my outriggers down to go under the Federal bridge on the Dania cut off canal. As I was bringing them up, the line was caught on one of my spinning rods. There is a very nice Shimano 4500 on a custom rod near Dockers if anyone wants it.

Rrescued a dog that fell off a boat that we were travelling with outside Newport. thought it was a seal at first glance. grabbed it off my platform in 3-4' seas. not my smartest move.

Probably a grateful pup though.

And so were the owners. Funny thing, the dog always stood pointing north which was back towards land.
