At 58M long, she is just as large as the m/y Netanya 8- CMN's previous largest yacht- and intends to set heads array. Once launched, she will be a sight to behold. The yacht in question is the new 58M Slipstream. The Slipstream will be built to a design of Andrew Winch and Naval Architecture by the CMN team.

Here is a brief physical description of what she should look like. The Slipstream is to have a metallic black hull and colour with black draught. The superstructure is to be a silverish to offwhite colour which highly contrasts the dark hull and windows.

The sundeck is to be spacious encompassing the top deck of the Slipstream. A bold hardtop stretches not forwards but backwards, providing an abundance of shade and cool areas to relax. Forward of this is the sizable Jacuzzi, which is bounded by comfortable and inviting sunpads. This area is semi- sheltered with a slightly forward sloping windbreaking glass/screen.

Comming down one level, the Slipstream is to feature lounging and sunning areas just forward of the bridge with large sunpads. The bridge will feature large vertical glass windows, perfect for navigational views. One can make their way aft by using either the port of starboard exterior passage.

One more level takes you to the main deck where in the fore castle, one may find skis and seating as well as the machinery for docking and anchoring. Farther aft from here, the owner's suite is to be present, probably a full beam configuration may materialise. Stern seating areas can be accessed from the exterior walkways and the main saloon through the aft sliding doors. Far atop the yacht will sit the main mast. Bold and black it will feature two radar arrays and three satcom and telcom domes. Just a few of the standard technologies aboard luxury yachts today.

Here are the statistics for this near sister to the Netanya 8:

    Length overall 57.70m / 189.30'
    Maximum breadth 11.20m / 36.75'
    Maximum draught 3.40m
    11.15'
    Full load displacement 890 T
    Gross tonnage 1080 GT
    Propulsion power 2 x 1641 kW at 1600 rpm
Type of engines CAT 3516B Rating C
    Generators 3 x 164 Kw
    Emergency Generators 1 x 48 Kw
    Hull Steel
    Superstructure Aluminium
    Guests 12
    Crew 14
    Maximum speed 15.5knots
    Range at 12 knots 5 000 NM
    Classification Bureau Veritas

The CMN yard have highlighted that the 58 M Sliptream is indeed on course for the intended launch.

"The yard is now ready for the launching this summer of the 60m motor yacht Slipstream, result of a fruitful cooperation between CMN Yachts and Andrew Winch Designs."

They have even changed up the colours in their logo. It is now a nice royal blue!

Well the latest i've heard is a launch around March 09 so long as the paint goes on well.

    p.s. she is actually 60m not 58m a la netanya 8.

Yes I have been hearing about these delays as well. Seems pretty consistent because I was told early 2009. Alternatively, I was only going by what CMN had. They had 58-meters (57.70-meters), review the early statistics.

    Latest from CMN:

"After the launching of the 58m (190ft) ‘Netanya 8’ in February 2007, CMN has developed a new range of motor yachts, the CMN Line 60 with two units in construction: ‘Slipstream’ & ‘Project 802’.

The Motor Yachts have been studied in cooperation with the designer Andrew Winch. The yachts can comfortably accommodate an Owner’s party of up to twelve guests. The Owners’ full beam duplex stateroom includes an office, his and her bathrooms, separate dressing rooms and stairs up to a raised private observation lounge giving panoramic views forward. A VIP cabin with a private balcony is located on bridge deck.

The motor yachts are propelled by twin Caterpillar 3516 diesel engines and are fitted with two pairs of zero-speed Quantum stabilisers, creating very comfortable yachts both underway and at anchor.

‘Slipstream’ & ‘Project 802’are evolutions of ‘Netanya 8’ with a longer and deeper hull creating a full height bilge deck under guest and crew accommodation."

From what i have heard paintng is taking longer than normal due to its black hull and silver superstructure as it show up very slight imperfections a whole lot more than a traditional white hull.

    Correct.

She will be chartered by her owner... the yacht is advertized on Burgess' website for summer 343,000euros, winter $546,000 per week plus the usual expenses. it would also appear the 40m Slipstream currently in existence has been renamed Silver Dream by what maybe a new owner.

    Hi,

Even the best laid plans of mice and men can go very seriously awry when Sea Trials are involved.

There are a number of instances of Catastrophic engine failures, shafts seized, and the occasional fire to vary the meaning of "usual" when applied to these important step in a vessels career.
