Tempurature sending unit

    At the and of last season the temperature gauge on the port engine showed nothing as soon as I started the engine after getting my year end pump out.
    The boat was going to be hauled out the same day, so I didn't have a chance to look into it any further.

    Now with the new building at my marina, the boat is stored indoors, not heated. So once the temps start to get up to a point that I can do something I would like to have the issue fixed before launch.

    So the point of this post.....where exactly are the sending units on a 7.4L Mercruiser, 1989.

    The most common locations were forward on or next to the thermostat housing.
    Another location is the center of the heads just above the exhaust manifold.

    Thanks rcrapps, as soon as I can access the boat I will have a look, but I don't thing that will be soon.....maybe late April.
