    M/V Sea Spirit is hull # 2 in the Sparkman & Stephens designed Sea Spirit Yachts Passagemaker 60 series.     Engine Room & Electronics

    M/V Sea Spirit provides fuel efficiency by using a single 340 hp continuous duty Lugger. The Key Power get-home system is a hydraulic system mounted on the main shaft, driven by a hydraulic pump powered off either the 20kW or 16kW generators with remote engagement from the wheelhouse (the generator hydraulically powers the main shaft in the event of engine failure.) The Key Power PTO system is able to propel the yacht at 4.7 knots. With a comfortable cruise speed of 9 - 9.5 knots, the fuel consumption has been measured at 5.5 - 7 gph; at 7 knots in calm seas, consumption has been measured at 2gph; at 7 - 9 knots, the range is calculated at 3,000 - 7,500nm.

    The watertight door with viewing port leads to the engine room which is well lit with easy service access. Five fuel tanks come with baffles, sump pumps, sight gauges, and inspection plates. "Anywhere to anywhere" fuel transfer and polishing systems and the ability to change filters while underway. The oil exchange system not only includes new and used oil tanks, but also a pump out valve at the aft deck makes it extremely convenient providing the ability to load and unload oil from the swim platform. Also appropriately located in the same compartment is the pump-out connection for the 60 gallon bilge water tank which is housed in the lazarette and is filtered for emergency overboard pump out.

    Electrical System
    Overhead lighting throughout the accommodations is DC (converted from AC to DC through theTransformer or run directly from the batteries). All 12 batteries are AGM. The bow and stern thruster batteries are tied to the house batteries, doubling their capacity or they may be isolated via switch. At anchor, these batteries double the house battery capacity.

    Hull & Construction
    Sea Spirit Yachts has CE certified sisterships in Europe and all Sea Spirit Passagemakers are designed to be certifiable. The full-length keel and the keel shoe, which protect the prop and rudder, were designed to result in a vessel with roll dampening properties that would not be stabilizer dependent.

    Solid hand laid-up fiberglass laminate is used to 8 inches above the waterline. The topsides and superstructure are constructed with NidaCore, offering increased strength with reduced weight. The transverse framing and longitudinal stringers have additional fiberglass reinforcements as well as the elimination of all wood products. All cored laminates are vacuum bagged. The hull is further protected with the rubrail integrated structurally into the hull laminate; the rubrail has a stainless steel rubbing strake from bow to stern providing additional strength and protection. The five watertight compartments offer additional integrity created by the 4 collision bulkheads.

    Hull painted with Awlcraft Astro Blue. Isophthalic gelcoat base primer; blister-resistant gelcoat epoxy barrier primer and anti-fouling bottom paint below waterline. Non-skid deck surfaces finished in gelcoat. New bottom paint 11/10 and PropSpeed applied to running gear. Sparkman & Stephens signature cove stripe in gold paint. Main deck, portuguese bridge, and forward flybridge bulwarks are finished with solid teak cap rails.

    Plumbing & Bilge System

    Each of the five watertight compartments has independent bilge pumps, a total of 10; labeled and lighted bilge alarm layout panels are affixed in the pilothouse, master stateroom, and flybridge. All high bilge pumps have sensors fitted to a loud audible alarm in the 4 main bilge compartments (lower pump: 2000 gph, elevated pump: 3700 gph). There's a 60 gallon integral bilge tank dedicated to engine room and lazarette oily water collection with discharge filter and pump out. Bilge air circulation system under lower accommodation compartment.

    The foredeck offers seating for sunning or comfortable viewing underway with storage beneth the seats.

    Aft Deck
    Another of the great features of the Sea Spirit 60 is the aft deck. While this is an additional ideal area for alfresco dining for up to 9 guests, it is well designed to also allow access to the swim platform. A capstan is on the port side for ease in stern anchoring, dinghy retrieval, or hauling in "the big one" (not meaning m.o.b.)

    The locking centerline pantographic transom door swings out for easy access to the swim platform which includes a large wet storage compartment, 25 gallon circulating bait well (or kiddie hot tub fed by adjacent hot/cold freshwater shower), and retractable pocketed swim
    ladder. Forward of the transom door are recessed cabinets, one for the controls for easy dirty oil discharge with fresh and salt water hose
    connections and the other for hand-held hot/cold shower fixtures.

    The canoe stern design not only offers better sea keeping, particularly in aft seas where the Sparkman & Stephens design team have perfected the sailboat based hull form, but it also offers unique aesthetic appeal. Additionally, this design allows for an oversized wrap-around swim platform which provides the ability to board from either port or starboard side from marina docks, as well as the ability to tie up numerous water toys and still have maneuverability for boarding, fishing, and utilizing the extra "real estate" space.

    Flybridge
    The underway visibility from the full beam flybridge station is excellent and the fore/aft placement of the helm is ideal. Seating for family and guests is generous at large dining table; additional double observation seat is to starboard. Portside is a chef prep area with fold-down lid, ice-maker, and stainless steel sink. Numerous areas of generous stowage. The navigation mast is hinged and can be easily lowered without the need for "yard assist."
