I had planned to take a trip to the Bahamas down to the Turks and Caicos . Just read of a shooting of an American tourist in Turks and warning by State department that it was a Level 2 risk. Looking at Bahamas it is listed as Level 2 also. What Islands in Bahamas should I avoid.

Haven’t seen Olderboater for a while does anyone know if he is okay. Thanks

Avoid freeport and nassau. Out islands are great, friendly generous people.

Thanks. I assume you would avoid Turks & Caicos. Was there before all the hurricane damage and had time

When I started my treks down there, I knew to avoid Nassau.
    That was 40 years ago.
Sadly, Freeport has fallen. Even before that 'Cane came thru.
Xanadu went to trash 10 years ago. Never again visited the area.

Marsh Harbor was getting rough but the docks were safe.
The outer islands and locations had always been friendly.
You must always practice security measures even in Miami or WPB.

I'm still wondering about early next years extended vacation. Dry Tortuga or Rediscover Davis Harbor, where I visited on a rescue mission 2 weeks after hurricane Andrew (been trying to return since).
Some damage at Fort Jefferson but NPS says all will be good in a few weeks.
The rest of the keys are fine and were looking forward to some friend searching back near KBYC.

I was surprised to read about the TC shooting a couple of days ago.

as to the Bahamas ( TC is not part of the Bahamas…) most islands are very safe. The hot spots are new providence and Freeport as well as, to a lesser extent, great abaco.

we ve been going to the exumas for 15+ years. No worry about crime even Gtown
