Pendennis launches 105' "Akalam" sailing yacht

UK builder Pendennis launched a 105-foot sailing yacht over a month ago. The new yacht is the latest sloop rigged vessel to come from Pendennis and features a design lines by Barracuda Yacht Design. In build, she was referred to as the B105 but now after launch and nearing delivery, she has her final and finished name, "Akalam".

Akalam also just recently completed sea trials which takes her one step closer to delivery. She was scheduled to be handed over to her owner(s) just before Christmas 2010. She is a small yacht in stature but none-the-less an advanced yacht. The consideration for detail at each sector of design, build and finish helps make the B105 project successful thus far.

The Akalam interior by Javier Muñoz is enhanced by the utilization of expanses of glass in the enclosed cockpit area especially along the sides. The view from inside to the out is clear, stunning and visually enticing. According to renderings, the interior is of a contemporary appeal with emphasis on using cream colors and darker hints of accents for contrast.

Her dark hull is contrasted with the white of the raised saloon area and also balanced with a wooden veneer along its base from the fore to the aft. There is also a wooden cap running along the top around the hull. The rig matches the darkness of the hull making an purposeful integration. The 32-meter aluminum Akalam is now nearing completion and hand over is imminent.
