Plywood Separation Under Fiberglass Cockpit Side

    i HAVE ROT AND THE PLYWOOD IS SEPARATED BETWEEN THE FIBERGLASS ON THE TRIAGULAR SIDE OF THE COCKPIT ABOVE FUEL FILL 1982 42 POST HAS ANYONE DONE THIS REPAIR BEFOR NOT SURE HOW TO PROCEED THINKING i NEED TO CUT OUT THE INSIDE FIBERGLASS AND REPLACE THE PLYWOOD AND THEN RE-FIBERGLASS HELP

    A picture would help here, but it sounds like you're on the right track. All rot and then some has to be cut out completely. The whole piece of ply should be replaced with marine grade ply, and then reglassed. Is this a structural componant? If this is the corner at the transom the damage may go much further and should probably be left to a professional. Are you able to find where the water got through? Take it back to the source and begin replacing from there.
