    Alfa IV

Does the owner of Alfa IV have anything to do with the Alfa built by Benetti and presented at the Monaco Yacht show in September 2001 ?

    Wallace,

    It's one and the same.

The Benetti has been put up for sale a few weeks in anticipation of the arrival of the new Oceanco : she's yours if your willing to put up 25M US$.

Rumours are that the Benetti Alfa has already been sold !!

In their newsletter Antennae, Edmiston reports that Alfa was old on the first day !

Other indications are that she was indeed under offer from the very beginning.

    Quite impressive.

How did they launch her? Do you have pics of how they get those tractors from underneath her?

    The launching

The water at Oceanco's is not deep enough for letting the bigger yachts sliding in the water. That's why they put in on the tractors. The tractors drive on a ponton. The ponton is shipped to Rotterdam where it sinks down in deep water, making the yacht floating. Ik have only foto's from the Dilbar on the ponton. The Dilbar is scheduled tot leave Alblasserdam the end of april.

So if I understand you correctly, the tractors roll the ship onto the ponton, which then sinks, the ship floats off and the ponton raises. How do they keep the ponton from rolling or sliding when the ship first rolls on to it?

Too bad you don't have those pics, I would like to see that process.

    Very interesting indeed...

I'am defintely fascinated by Oceanco... Alfa and Alfa IV are definitely two of my favourite yachts...

Would anyone have contacs with Oceanco headquarters in Monaco ?

I would like to have a 3 monthes work placement with them next summer, for my studies.

    If anyone could help... :)

The yacht Alfa was not built at Oceanco but at Benetti... The only Alfa built by Oceanco is Alfa IV.

Don't worry, the ponton is massive!!. It don't move a bit when the ship is riding on it.

29 of april , the next ship is comming out of the hall. Unfortunatly I won't be there to take picture's. I am on holidays then.

I like the designs of the Golden-bay series and personally I like the blue colour of the hull even more!

By the way will ALFA IV be succeeded by a new ALFA, as the Oceanco yacht is already for sale??
