I currently have the 6100is and considering the new garmin touchscreen units
They seem to be user friendly - great graphics- etc
Can i get some positive and negative feedback on uses of both systems

I have played with both. The Northstar works and works well although navigating through screens is not as easy as the Garmin. The Garmin has a lot of features but I would never buy one. The CPU speed is not fast enough on the Garmin to keep up with all of the features. At 20 knots, it takes literally 30 seconds for the next screen to load on the chartplotter. So you'll sit there with this stupid hurricane logo going around in circles for 30 seconds waiting for the next screen to go up. I would never buy the Garmin unit, on a faster boat it's even worse.
