  1. NORDHAVN 75 Expedition Yachtfish!
Designed to Fish, Dive and Explore the World.

Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE) announces it is about to begin construction of its first yacht designed specifically for offshore fishing and diving expeditions. True to its oceangoing pedigree, the new Nordhavn 75 Expedition Yachtfisher (EYF) has a range of up to 4,000 miles and is equipped to be self-sustaining for extended stays in remote parts of the world.

During the past 25 years, Nordhavn has earned a reputation for designing and building highly capable oceangoing power cruisers. Its small but mighty 40-footer completed a 25,000 mile Around-the-World voyage in 2001, and in 2004 Nordhavn organized and managed the Nordhavn Atlantic Rally, during which 18 power vessels, mostly Nordhavns, departed Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and arrived safely in Gibraltar.

The all-new 75 EYF was created for those with a passion to explore the world’s most productive fishing grounds and exotic dive sites on their own, luxurious yacht. While an increasing number of sport fishermen are having their boats shipped long distances by oceangoing yacht transport companies, and others choose to charter boats in far-off destinations, Nordhavn recognizes the attraction of reaching these hotspots on one’s own ship. “Oftentimes the cost and hassles of transporting your own sportfish boat or the disappointments of a foreign charter discourage serious fishermen from exploring new areas,” comments Jim Leishman of PAE. “Our experience has been that with a well designed, properly built offshore powerboat, an owner and his crew can voyage virtually anywhere in the world on their own.”

The 75 EYF is a twin-engine, full displacement yacht that carries 5,000 gallons of fuel and 600 gallons of water. It displaces 235,000 lbs. and is designed to cruise economically at 12.5 knots at which speed it has an estimated range of 1850 nautical miles. At its maximum cruising speed of 13.5 knots, its estimated range is 1237 nautical miles, while its top speed is estimated at 14.3 knots. For ocean crossings, its estimated range increases to 3,949 nautical miles while running at 9 knots.
  2. Built to Cross Oceans:

Like her oceangoing siblings, the Nordhavn EYF is designed first and foremost to travel safely, comfortably and efficiently across the oceans of the world and handle the most adverse conditions. With extensive ballast, this hull will exhibit exceptional stability. Her watertight compartments, heavy construction scantlings along with massive deck hardware, high strength window glass (up to 3/4” thick) with storm plates and large oceangoing freeing ports – all illustrate that this new vessel is pure Nordhavn. Protected propellers and rudders, a foolproof gravity feed fuel system and a redundancy of all vital systems are just some of the extra measures taken by Nordhavn to ensure safe, trouble free, blue water passages.

    A Focus on Fishing:

The Nordhavn 75 EYF was designed for serious fishing. The cockpit, bridge, electronics station, tower and rigging incorporate the very latest ideas and techniques for finding and catching fish. Standard equipment and features include:

    • Stainless steel tuna tower with full control station
    • Control station pod on the upper aft deck for superior visibility of the cockpit
    • Two 35 cu. ft. deep freezers within the lazarette
    • Two large polished gel coat kill boxes with macerator pumps
    • Two live bait tanks with glass windows, lights and pumps
    • Built-in tackle lockers and drawers
    • Outriggers and centerline teaser reel
    • 12-rod rocket launcher
    • U-Line outdoor refrigerator
    • Fighting chair flush plate installed
    • Inside aft deck bulwark bolster padding
    • Foredeck installed 2,500 lb. MarQuipt davit for 16-17 ft. skiff

  3. Accommodations:

With a luxurious owner’s cabin, two spacious guest cabins, each with its own head and shower, a captain’s cabin with head and a separate at-watch berth in the enclosed flying bridge/wheelhouse, the 75 EYF provides accommodations for eight. The huge main saloon incorporates three different seating areas as well as a day head conveniently located at the door to the upper level cockpit.

Following the success of Nordhavn’s 72/76 cruising series, an interior design firm was commissioned to create a luxurious, yet purposeful atmosphere. Handcrafted teak joinery, crown moldings, granite, leather, special lighting and the use of only the finest hardware and appliances will ensure its position among the world’s finest made yachts. Hull No. 1 is tentatively scheduled to arrive in the U.S. in the fall of 2007, when it will begin its many appearances at major boat shows. The cost for each of the first three hulls will be approximately $4 million depending on the equipment specified by the owner.
