  1. Eco-friendly 79' CAT Hull Motoryacht
Construction has started on a new eco-friendly luxury catamaran motoryacht known as the Silent 79. As the name suggests, silent is referring to the quiet nature of the electric propulsion employed and taking power from a guilt-free, bountiful source; the sun. The number 79 is basically the LOA of the vessel although the exactly LOA is closer to 78-feet (77.8-feet). The yacht is to have a diesel genset onboard as a back up in case something happened to the main mode of generating electricity.
  2. Depending on what electric motor package is chosen by the client, the vessel can lazily cruise along at 8 knots or even sprint up to 20-knots. One of the main features that makes this yacht eco-friendly is that the entire top deck is plastered in photovoltaic panels, just under 1,000 square feet is to be clad in solar panels. It aims to provide noiseless cruising and no fumes when under operation with its solar-derived grid. Up to five cabins can be fitted onboard this cat, but Silent Yachts has not specified the layout yet.
  3. The Austrian company is building the vessel from carbon fiber composite materials to keep construction sturdy but lightweight, which certainly will help with efficiency. You may wonder about range, the company suggests as long as everything functions properly the autonomy is not limited to a specific figure as the batteries are always going to be charged even on days without direct sun. Onboard there is a recharger rated 100 Kw onboard that can be tapped for energy too. The design of the Silent 79 is by Marco Casali of design studio Too Design. Delivery is penned for early 2020.
