News: New England Boatworks Launch Flagship 28.7M "Contraband"

New England BoatWorks launched their largest build to date today. Photos have been swirling around on social media from the builder showcasing their pride and joy in the travel lift being carried to the water. The 28.7-meter yacht called "Contraband" was built for the owner of the yard and has been launched a little over 1 year after construction started back in July 2017.

The vessel is thought to have been built in aluminium has the New England BoatWorks yard is good at fashioning this material into their yachts. The yacht is meant to be a tough built, long range cruiser that will allow the owner to cruise long distances without issue. Alot of information isn't available on the build but it is said to have "tugboat engines" onboard. A speed of 13-knots should suffice and dialed back to 9 or 10-knots increases the range significantly.

Looking at Contraband she appears to have been finished with a black hull and white superstructure. It is a very classic and timeless design showcasing actual round portholes in the hull and superstructure. The Newport based shipyard is pleased to have built the vessel and it demonstrates the family commitment to the local marine industry.
